On May 29th, during the official visit to Singapore by General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, Minister of Finance Ngo Van Tuan held a working meeting with Minister of Manpower and Minister in charge of Energy and Science and Technology under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Tan See Leng.

Minister Ngo Van Tuan stated that Singapore is currently one of Vietnam's leading trade and investment partners. Economic cooperation between the two countries continues to develop, with notable areas including the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) model, finance, digital transformation, green economy, and innovation.

Minister Ngo Van Tuan stated that Vietnam wishes to learn from Singapore's experience in developing financial centers, high-tech industries, logistics, innovation, and improving the quality of human resources. At the same time, Vietnam expects Singaporean businesses to continue expanding investment in areas such as AI, semiconductors, clean energy, the digital economy, logistics infrastructure, and next-generation industrial parks.

Furthermore, both countries prioritize transforming their growth models towards a digital economy, a green economy, and sustainable development. This is seen as a favorable foundation for expanding cooperation in the fields of semiconductors, AI, smart logistics, clean energy, carbon credits, and the development of a regional financial center.

One notable topic discussed by both sides was the progress of the new VSIP projects, including VSIP Hai Phong II and VSIP Binh Duong IV. Both sides will continue to coordinate efforts to expedite the necessary procedures, including the issuance of investment registration certificates for these projects.

According to Minister Ngo Van Tuan, Vietnam highly appreciates VSIP's role in promoting bilateral investment cooperation, developing modern industrial parks, and attracting high-quality investors. Relevant agencies will continue to coordinate with Singapore, VSIP, and local authorities to resolve difficulties and accelerate the progress of eligible projects.

Singapore is currently one of Vietnam's leading investment and trade partners, with cumulative FDI exceeding US$80 billion. The VSIP model continues to be seen as a symbol of economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the talks, both sides spent considerable time discussing the direction of cooperation in developing metro and urban railway systems in Vietnam. Singapore stated that it would support the development of basic technical standards and standardization of operating procedures for future metro lines.

Regarding cooperation in developing an international financial center, Minister Tan See Leng suggested that Vietnamese startups could leverage Singapore's ecosystem to increase their ability to raise capital and attract international investors.
