Vietnam appreciates timely international support in overcoming the consequences of storm No. 3

VOV.VN - The support from the international community as well as the overseas Vietnamese community for the victims of storm No. 3 is extremely valuable and Vietnam highly appreciates this" - This is the affirmation of Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held on the afternoon of September 19 in Hanoi.
According to Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang, to express solidarity and sympathy for the loss and damage to people and property of the Government and people of Vietnam in general and the authorities and people of the northern provinces and cities that have been severely affected by storm No. 3, many countries and international organizations have sent letters, telegrams, messages of condolences, as well as direct and indirect support of financial resources, equipment for accommodation, rescue, essential supplies, and experts for Vietnam to overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 as soon as possible. The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that so far, the overseas Vietnamese community has directly donated and supported 13 billion VND and will continue to donate more to support localities and people affected by the storm.

Vietnam always appreciates the valuable solidarity, encouragement, visits and timely support from the international community and the overseas Vietnamese community with the Vietnamese Government and people to join hands to overcome the huge damage caused by natural disasters, storms and floods, thereby stabilizing the situation, restoring production and business and promoting growth," said Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.

Also at the press conference, answering reporters' questions about the work of protecting and ensuring the safety of Vietnamese fishermen and boats when taking shelter from storm No. 4 (international name Soulik), Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said: "Today, the Prime Minister signed Official Dispatch No. 98/CD-TTg directing the focus on responding to the tropical depression that is likely to strengthen into a storm and floods, focusing on implementing key tasks, promptly and resolutely and effectively responding to storm No. 4, internationally named Soulik, which is currently making landfall. Implementing the instructions of the Prime Minister as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative agencies in China and some neighboring areas have urgently worked with local authorities to inform and update information about storm Soulik and request local authorities to support Vietnamese boats and fishermen operating at sea who cannot return to the mainland to take shelter from the storm." The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also sent a diplomatic note to diplomatic representative agencies of other countries in Hanoi to closely coordinate information and promptly report back to the country to take necessary support measures in case Vietnamese fishermen or boats need urgent rescue.
