At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sent his sincere regards to Russian President V. Putin, Chairman of the Russian Senate V. Matvienco, Chairman of the Russian State Duma (Lower House) V. Volodin; thanked Russia for attending the Celebration Ceremony and Comrade Vladimir Yakushev for leading the high-ranking delegation of the Russian National Assembly to attend activities within the framework of the Celebration Ceremony; affirmed that this is a vivid manifestation of the Vietnam-Russia friendship and Russia's respect and honor for the achievements of the Vietnamese people in the struggle for national liberation, liberation from colonial slavery and the cause of national construction and development; at the same time, this is also an opportunity to express gratitude for the support and assistance of international friends, including the people of the former Soviet Union and the Russian people today.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam highly value the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation, always considering the Russian Federation as one of the top important partners in Vietnam's foreign policy.
Comrade Vladimir Yakushev expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam and sincerely thanked the Vietnamese side for the warm and respectful welcome to the delegation. Expressing his impression and warmly congratulating Vietnam on successfully organizing the 80th Anniversary Ceremony, Comrade Vladimir Yakushev said that Vietnam is a typical nation in the struggle to liberate the nation from colonial slavery and against invaders in the 20th century and is a self-reliant, dynamic, peaceful, loyal and developing nation in the current period of many changes in the world.
Discussing bilateral relations, the leaders of the two countries' National Assembly expressed their joy at the remarkable developments in recent times, especially after General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the Russian Federation last May.
The two sides agreed that political relations have been strengthened through high-level and all-level contacts and exchanges; relations between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the ruling United Russia Party have been promoted with the two sides regularly exchanging delegations, increasing contacts through party channels and preparing to sign a Memorandum on expanding and deepening relations between the two Parties; economic, trade, investment, education-training, cultural and people-to-people cooperation has made great strides; many bottlenecks in cooperation have been removed and the two sides are actively promoting key cooperation projects in many fields.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides agreed that in recent times, the relationship between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Russian National Assembly has been expanded with increased bilateral cooperation activities, exchanges of parliamentary delegations between the two countries and between the Committees of the two National Assemblies and the Friendship Parliamentarians' Group between the two National Assemblies has been increasingly effective and practical; and agreed on a number of important contents in promoting parliamentary cooperation in the coming time.
Also at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh reported on some key aspects of cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies, coordination between the two countries' National Assemblies at multilateral parliamentary forums, activities of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Parliamentarians' Group in recent times and proposed some directions for cooperation in the coming time.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man invited Chairman of the House of Representatives V. Volodin and Chairman of the Senate V. Matvienco to soon visit Vietnam again.
