Vietjet Air announced a change in senior personnel on April 6 at the 2023 plan launch ceremony.
Accordingly, from April 6, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao will assume the position of Chairwoman of the company's Board of Directors, succeeding the position held by Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha since 2007.
Previously, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - founder of Vietjet, held the position of Vice Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Vietjet for many years together with former Chairwoman Nguyen Thanh Ha.
In the position of General Director, Vietjet Air appointed Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, who is currently holding the position of Executive Director. Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong has also been with Vietjet since the early days and assumed the position of Permanent Deputy General Director, Executive Director of Vietjet since October 2020.
Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong has an engineering degree from Vietnam Maritime University, a master's degree in business administration from CFVG (France) and a doctorate from the Moscow State Institute of Transport. He has held many leadership positions in large enterprises.
According to Vietjet, this appointment is part of the company's development plan, marking the maturity of Vietjet's senior leadership team to continue to expand and develop the airline strongly in the future.
The appointment of experienced and dedicated leaders promises to bring the airline into a new phase of growth and development, contributing more to the innovation of the aviation industry and promoting economic development in Vietnam and internationally.
Previously, the appointed personnel had made many important contributions during the period when the aviation industry faced challenges and difficulties from the COVID-19 pandemic, helping Vietjet overcome the pandemic and recover strongly during this period.
In 2022, Vietjet transported 20.5 million passengers on 116,000 flights, a 20% increase in domestic passengers compared to the same period in 2019. Total assets also increased by 30% to more than VND 67,000 billion with a long-term debt to equity ratio of 0.7 times and a liquidity ratio of 1.3 times, at a good level in the aviation industry.
The airline paid 4,349 billion VND in direct and indirect taxes, fees and charges to the budget in 2022.
2023 is expected to be a year of strong growth in international air transport, bringing opportunities for airlines with financial and operational capacity like Vietjet./.
