Some Vietjet flights are affected due to the transfer of ground service work.
Explaining the delay of many flights, Vietjet said that the reason was because Saigon Ground Services Joint Stock Company handed over all ground services to Vietjet at 0:00 on April 20, 2025, which was also the peak season, and the airline was rushing to prepare to move to the new terminal T3.
In addition, before the peak season of April 30 and May 1, the number of passengers increased with many activities at Tan Son Nhat airport and Ho Chi Minh City, causing many flights to have to adjust their schedules.
Vietjet Air apologizes to customers and sends E-vouchers (equivalent to cash) as goodwill compensation worth VND500,000 for each passenger on domestic flights and VND1,000,000 for each passenger on international flights. The policy applies to flights affected for 2 hours or more on April 20 and April 21, 2025.
According to Mr. Uong Viet Dung - Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the prolonged flight delays at Tan Son Nhat airport on April 20 and 21 came from 3 main reasons:
Firstly, the reception and operation of Vietjet's new ground services are still lacking in synchronization, causing difficulties in serving passengers and luggage.
Second, Tan Son Nhat airport is adjusting its plan to receive aircraft to serve training and prepare for the peak holiday season of April 30 and May 1, forcing some flights to change their operating hours, causing a chain reaction.
In addition, bad weather at Noi Bai airport on the afternoon of April 21 also forced some Vietjet flights to adjust their schedules.
