Flight VN1718 had to delay its departure by 11 minutes to wait for a team of 5 doctors from Nghe An General Hospital and a liver from a donor to be transplanted to a patient at Viet Duc Hospital (Hanoi). Vietnam Airlines hopes to receive sympathy from passengers on the flight for this significant delay.
The work of transporting donated organs to save lives was carried out quickly.
Due to strict requirements regarding liver preservation time, from the time it is removed from the donor until it is transplanted into the recipient's body, which is a maximum of 6 hours, the flight was prepared and carried out extremely urgently.
As soon as the request was received from the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, Vietnam Airlines quickly booked seats and issued tickets for the medical team and hand luggage, which was a medical box containing organs. From the time of checking in at the airport until boarding and landing, the medical team was always given priority at every stage to ensure the fastest journey, such as priority check-in, security screening, arranging seats for the team near the aircraft exit and quickly taking the team off the apron.
The liver was successfully transported to Noi Bai.
With the belief that each flight will help bring life to many patients and that each moment of delay will affect the patient's life as well as the donor's good wishes, Vietnam Airlines always strives to carry out flights with the utmost precision, urgency and safety.
