Putting the mine into commercial exploitation on schedule contributes to maintaining and increasing production output, consolidating Vietsovpetro's core role in the value chain of oil and gas exploration and exploitation in Vietnam, contributing to the goal of ensuring national energy security and affirming sovereignty at sea through strategic oil and gas cooperation in the Cuu Long and Nam Con Son basins.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that the event of receiving the first oil flow from the KNT-KNTN field, along with the naming ceremony of the PV Drilling 8 jack-up rig, are new steps forward, new achievements of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), Vietsovpetro, member companies and partners, achieved right on the occasion of the whole country competing to make achievements to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, towards the 14th National Party Congress.
On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son commended and congratulated Petrovietnam, Vietsovpetro, PVEP, Zarubezhneft and partners on these important achievements.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that in recent years, despite the complicated developments of the world situation and the emergence of more difficulties, our country has achieved many important achievements in socio-economic development, national defense - security, foreign affairs, and the country's international position has been increasingly enhanced. In that common achievement, there is a very important contribution from the energy and oil and gas industry - with the "locomotive" role of Petrovietnam.
The Deputy Prime Minister assessed that Petrovietnam's achievements were made by the joint efforts, consensus and achievements of its member enterprises, with the close and effective cooperation of international partners, especially large, important and long-term partners such as Zarubezhneft Group.
For the Block 09-2/09 project, this is a vivid demonstration of the courage, capacity and perseverance of the "fire seekers", of the team of officers, engineers and workers from Vietnam and the Russian Federation, who have overcome many challenges to bring the project to the finish line on schedule, safely and effectively.
"During more than 33 months of implementation, comrades, brothers, sisters, and partners have overcome many difficulties due to the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, harsh sea conditions, high technical pressure... to complete the work on schedule, with more than 6.6 million working hours in absolute safety," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the leadership, management, operation, organization, implementation and supervision capacity of Petrovietnam, the effective coordination between member units and partners, as well as the support of ministries, branches and localities.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that this achievement is not only an important technical step forward, but also marks a new step in the comprehensive development process of Petrovietnam in general and related member enterprises in particular, thereby also affirming the effective, long-term and reliable cooperation model in the energy and oil and gas sector between Vietnam and Russia, a clear demonstration of the good development of the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
To serve the country's development goals in the new era, the demand for energy is huge, clearly shown in the Adjustment of Power Planning VIII and the fact that many large projects are being and will soon be implemented. The Deputy Prime Minister especially noted that Petrovietnam needs to constantly innovate its thinking; be quick and flexible in adapting; promote innovation, digital transformation, green transformation; develop high-quality human resources; improve leadership capacity, promote pioneering, exemplary, dare to think, dare to do, dare to commit, dare to take responsibility for the common good, especially for leaders and officials holding leadership and management positions.
Regarding the KNT-KNTN mine project, Block 09-2/09, the Deputy Prime Minister requested relevant enterprises and partners, on the basis of promoting today's very important achievements, to continue to strive to overcome difficulties; determined to successfully carry out the next tasks and works, ensuring progress, safety, good quality and achieving the highest production and business efficiency.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Government will continue to accompany, remove obstacles, and improve institutions to support the oil and gas industry to develop sustainably and improve competitiveness.
The Deputy Prime Minister also requested ministries, branches and localities to continue to support Petrovietnam, its member enterprises and domestic and international partners to perform well, not only for this project, but also many important upcoming projects, contributing to firmly ensuring national energy security, best serving the country's development goals in the new era.
The Deputy Prime Minister wished the leaders, employees of Petrovietnam, member enterprises, and partners good health, happiness, and success; and many new achievements to practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Group's founding (September 3, 1975 - September 3, 2025) and major events of the industry as well as the country in the coming time.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son received General Director of Zarubezhneft Group Sergei Kudryashov.
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son affirmed that the field of oil and gas and energy cooperation is a symbol of close and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Russia, actively contributing to the development of each country.
The Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the results of the cooperation between Petrovietnam and Zarubezhneft over the past 40 years; hoped that the two sides would improve efficiency and promote cooperation in new areas, such as green energy, clean energy, offshore wind power in accordance with Vietnam's Power Plan VIII; affirmed that the Government is committed to creating favorable conditions for foreign investors to invest and do business in Vietnam in the spirit of harmonizing interests and sharing risks.
Zarubezhneft Group General Director Sergei Kudryashov reported to the Deputy Prime Minister on the results of cooperation between Petrovietnam and Zarubezhneft in Vietnam and Russia; thanked and hoped that the Vietnamese Government would continue to pay attention and facilitate cooperation between the two Groups.
