Not only at the national level, Vinamilk's contributions to sustainable development are also highly appreciated by the international community. Specifically, according to this ranking, the perceived value of sustainability at Vinamilk was quantified by Brand Finance at 253 million USD, ranking 5th in the Top 10. Meanwhile, Vinamilk's perceived sustainability score (on a 10-point scale) was the highest in the Top 10 with 5.75 points, surpassing many other brands from countries with developed dairy industries such as China, France, Japan, etc. This is a very encouraging result as the Vietnamese dairy industry is still young compared to many countries, especially in the field of sustainable development.

According to the report, Vinamilk continues to maintain its 6th position in the Top 10 most valuable dairy brands globally and the Top 2 strongest global brands in the dairy industry. It can be seen that, in addition to value and strength, the “sustainable development” factor of the brand is a highlight in this year’s report, as this trend is being promoted internationally.

Vinamilk was honored as the 6th most valuable milk brand in the world at the recent announcement ceremony of the Top 100 most valuable brands in Vietnam 2023.

Mr. Alex Haigh, Brand Finance representative for the Asia Pacific region, commented: “Vinamilk is aiming for the Net Zero 2050 goal and is continuously leading the way in the circular economy and regenerative agriculture model. In addition to the environmental scope, Vinamilk is also supporting local communities and customers, for example the Vietnam Grow Up Milk Fund program with more than 42 million glasses of milk brought to Vietnamese children. Stable business operations are clear evidence that sustainable development efforts are paying off .

Building sustainability is the result of a process.

Reducing carbon footprint and Products leading responsible consumption are the two categories that Vinamilk was honored in the Top 50 Sustainable Development Enterprises of Vietnam award recently (announced by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine). According to the business leaders, these are also two of many aspects that Vinamilk is focusing on.

Mr. Le Thanh Liem - Vinamilk's Chief Financial Officer , shares about the implementation of sustainable development strategies at Vinamilk.

At the seminar “Promoting business models towards Net Zero” within the framework of this award, Mr. Le Thanh Liem - Vinamilk's Chief Financial Officer, explained the motivations for businesses to pursue the Net Zero goal: “Consumers are the driving force forcing businesses to practice sustainable development. Consumers are increasingly concerned about environmental issues, community benefits in addition to product quality and have increasingly high demands for green products... This is a challenge but will be the biggest motivation for businesses and brands to develop in a more sustainable direction”, Mr. Liem shared.

Specifically, most recently, in the 2022 - 2026 strategic period, Vinamilk announced that sustainable development has become one of the four strategic spearheads and action programs, along with a roadmap to reach the Net Zero goal by 2050. Vinamilk was also confirmed as the first dairy company in Vietnam to have both factories and farms that are carbon neutral according to the Pas 2060:2014 standard, with 2 units, Vinamilk Nghe An Dairy Factory and Vinamilk Nghe An Dairy Farm, becoming the first units to achieve carbon neutrality according to this standard.

Vinamilk is the first dairy company in Vietnam to have both a factory and a farm that are carbon neutral according to PAS 2060:2014 standards.

Vinamilk is also a typical example showing that investing in the sustainability of a business in general and a brand in particular is a process, not just a short-term temporary thing. Since 2012, this business has been widely known through the release of the Sustainable Development Report according to world standards, which is carefully conducted, detailed, transparent and audited by a third party. This is also the time when Vinamilk implemented a series of sustainable development projects that have so far brought positive results such as the 1 million trees fund for Vietnam, deploying solar energy, green energy for the entire farm and factory...

From 2023, Vinamilk will also implement a series of new projects to promote this process such as "Planting trees towards Net Zero" (in coordination with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment); "Vinamilk Net Zero Forest in Ca Mau Cape"; completing the inventory of greenhouse gas measurements at factories and farms; researching and developing products with green and sustainable elements... Thereby, bringing messages about sustainable development from the enterprise to employees, consumers and spreading more widely to the community, contributing to promoting the development of sustainable consumption trends.
