The ceremony aims to honor the tradition of studiousness of the Vietnamese people in general and of ethnic minorities in particular. Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet Newspaper and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the 2025 Commendation Ceremony Organizing Committee, said that over 12 editions held from 2013 to 2025, more than 2,000 students and young people from ethnic minorities of 53 ethnic groups nationwide have been honored.
Many of those honored at the ceremony have continued to grow and make significant contributions to their homeland. Many young people, including doctors, engineers, teachers, commune officials, and military officers, have chosen to return to their villages and hamlets to directly contribute to local development.
Notably, this year marks the first time in 12 editions of the awards ceremony that the largest number of ethnic groups have been represented: 53 ethnic groups, from 30 provinces and cities across the country.
This year's list of honored individuals includes top-performing graduates. Many students and young people have achieved outstanding results, such as: achieving a total score of 29 points or more in university and college entrance exams; the highest number of students ever to win first, second, or third prizes (or gold, silver, or bronze medals) in national and international art and sports competitions, with 21 students (compared to 2 in 2023 and 12 in 2024)...

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh congratulated the 150 outstanding students and young people honored today and affirmed: "You are truly beautiful flowers in the colorful garden of the Vietnamese ethnic communities; you are the pride of your families, clans, and villages; you are the faith and hope for a bright future for your homeland and country."
The Deputy Prime Minister also shared: "In recent times, education in ethnic minority areas has received special attention. The school system from preschool to high school has been increasingly expanded; boarding and semi-boarding schools continue to be strengthened; policies supporting lunch, tuition fee exemptions and reductions, study cost support, scholarships, student recruitment, and student loans have been implemented decisively. Most recently, we have started the construction of 100 boarding schools for primary and secondary levels in border communes..."

Looking ahead, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh requested the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions to take the lead and coordinate with other ministries and agencies to effectively implement policies for the development of ethnic minority and mountainous regions approved by the National Assembly; and targeted programs and projects approved by the Prime Minister.
In particular, attention should be paid to training, nurturing, and developing a pool of ethnic minority cadres from outstanding ethnic minority students, and selecting and awarding scholarships to some of the students honored this year to study abroad.
It is suggested that relevant localities study and develop policies and mechanisms to provide more incentives, attention, and care for the development, recruitment, and utilization of high-quality human resources from ethnic minority groups, mountainous areas, border regions, and islands; focusing on implementing and completing the construction of 100 The construction of multi-level ethnic boarding schools in border communes has recently commenced, ensuring progress and quality in accordance with the directives of the Politburo and the Secretariat of the Central Committee.
