(NADS) - In the context of technology changing the way people travel, VNPay Taxi has become a pioneering platform, connecting more than 200 taxi companies in Vietnam. This not only helps traditional taxi companies transform into technology taxis, but also brings users new experiences through banking applications.
At a recent conference, Mr. Le Tanh, General Director of VNPay, emphasized that in the world , the trend of calling cars via applications is exploding with the appearance of many big names such as Uber, Lyft, Grab and DiDi. He said that this is a big challenge for the traditional global taxi industry. However, Mr. Tanh also proudly affirmed that the Vietnamese taxi industry has "maintained its position and transformed into sustainable development" thanks to the digital transformation process.
Mr. Tanh said that users can now easily call a car directly from banking applications, creating a unique service that has never been seen before in the international market. Mr. Tran Manh Nam, Director of VNPay Business Division, also shared that many domestic taxi companies have applied technology to manage drivers, dispatch cars and manage revenue, with many prominent platforms such as Ali, Binh Anh, Emddi and VNTaxi.
However, to achieve comprehensive digital transformation, Mr. Nam emphasized the need to expand customers and improve the booking and payment process. This is the reason why VNPay Taxi was born, integrated on the applications of many banks and connected with 234 taxi companies in 54 provinces and cities. Users only need to access VNPay or the banking application to book a car, payment will be made quickly and conveniently through the account.
According to Mr. Nam, this approach helps taxi companies reach a large number of customers from banks, up to about 50 million people in Vietnam, while improving the professionalism of the taxi industry. Taxi companies can focus on building a team of professional drivers, while technology companies will support in digital transformation and applying new technology.
Mr. Nguyen Cong Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Automobile Transport Association, also said that the taxi industry has been strongly influenced by technology since 2014, when technology taxi models appeared. Many businesses have had to adapt, invest in developing their own applications and carry out strong digital transformation in the past 5 years.
Vietnam currently has about 2 million cars, including about 100,000 taxis. Mr. Hung said that this is a challenging market, with international companies such as Uber and Gojek also having to withdraw after a period of operation. To develop more sustainably, according to the representative of the Vietnam Automobile Transport Association, platforms such as VNPay Taxi need to continue to connect taxi companies, build service standards and improve user experience when booking cars through banking applications.
The transformation of Vietnam's taxi industry is opening up many new opportunities, affirming that technology and innovation will be the key to the future of the transportation industry.
