Vietnamese boxer defeats Belarusian "Thunder God" to win MMA Championship

(Dan Tri) - Pham Cong Minh successfully defended his men's 84kg championship belt after defeating Zakhar Dzmitrychenka (Belarus) at the MMA Championship.

The 84 kg championship match between Pham Cong Minh and Zakhar took place at Tay Ho Stadium ( Hanoi ). Before the match, Zakhar was rated higher thanks to his traditional wrestling moves. However, with his strong will, Cong Minh made the boxer known as "Thunder God" submit.

With the advantage in wrestling, the Belarusian boxer quickly took the lead and pinned Cong Minh to the floor in the first seconds. Despite being down for more than 4 minutes and having to endure a "shower" of blows from his opponent, Cong Minh still fought back and dragged the match into the next round.

In the second round, the Vietnamese representative learned from his experience and avoided the lightning strikes. After seeing his opponent getting tired, Cong Minh threw a punch that knocked Zakhar down to the floor.

The national Wushu Sanshou champion started throwing elbow strikes and using many powerful punches to his opponent's face and ribs, draining the Belarusian fighter's stamina and leaving him unable to stand up by the end of the second round.

Zakhar's technical team had to help him back to the corner of the field and announced that he could not continue the final round. Therefore, the referees recognized the knockout victory for Pham Cong Minh.

With this result, Cong Minh successfully defended the LION Championship 84kg belt and maintained his undefeated record. Meanwhile, this was the first loss for "thunder god" Zakhar since he came to Vietnam to compete in MMA.

Zakhar has never lost in Vietnamese traditional wrestling arenas. His most difficult match was a draw with Ha Van Hieu (Hieu Khong Lo) on April 11.

The defeat against Pham Cong Minh ended the Berarus boxer's unbeaten streak in all arenas.

Zakhar Dzmitrychenka was born in 1996 and was awarded the title of Master of Sports in Belarusian wrestling. He entered the top 10 of the 2017 U23 World Championship in classical wrestling and won a bronze medal in the 97 kg category at the 2018 World University Championship organized by the International Wrestling Federation.

Meanwhile, Pham Cong Minh, born in 1994, from Quang Ngai , is known as the "undefeated" in the wushu sanda category (84-85 kg) when he won the national championship for 8 consecutive years, from 2014 to 2022 and won the world silver medal in 2019.

In MMA Vietnam, Cong Minh won the 84 kg championship belt of Lion Championship in December 2023. Previously, he held the record for the fastest knockout in the tournament when he defeated Hoang Tran Minh Hieu after 15 seconds.
