With U23 Vietnam, every match is a final

In the opening match against U23 Bangladesh from Group C of the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Qualifiers, striker Nguyen Ngoc My opened the score, creating an easier game for U23 Vietnam before winning 2-0.

During the training session on September 4, Ngoc My said that it was also the first match he started, and then scored for U23 Vietnam. "I feel very happy and joyful," Ngoc My said, "I heard that my mother cried when she saw the goal. It was a special feeling, making me even happier to do something to make my family proud. I would like to thank my mother for always accompanying and supporting me."

Ngoc My also shared that playing for Phu Tho Club at Viet Tri Stadium gave him great confidence: "When I returned to the familiar stadium, I felt much more comfortable, easily adapting to the playing space and the audience." With humility, the 21-year-old player said that he "still has a lot to improve, from touching the ball, moving, coordinating to finishing."

Viktor Le also scored in the match against U23 Bangladesh.

In the training session after the victory over U23 Bangladesh, coach Kim Sang-sik divided the team into two groups. The main players mainly performed recovery exercises, while the remaining group continued to practice more technical and tactical skills. Ngoc My believes that "Although U23 Vietnam has only been training for a few days, the more they compete, the more united and in tune they will become."

Regarding the match with U23 Singapore, the player of Dong A Thanh Hoa declared that U23 Vietnam "treats each match as a final. The whole team will try their best to achieve the best results, bringing joy to the fans".

According to the match schedule, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Singapore on the evening of September 6. Another victory will open the door for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team to get closer to the goal of winning a ticket to the 2026 AFC U23 Championship Finals.
