To have a perfect opening day, security forces and organizing units have planned in detail every location and venue, as well as the travel route through the gateways into Munich.
The opening ceremony and opening match of EURO 2024 at the Allianz Arena in Munich were an absolute success without any major security incidents or transport problems that prevented fans from reaching the stadium.
To have a perfect opening day, attracting more than 66,000 enthusiastic fans to the stadium, security forces and organizing units have planned in detail every location and venue, as well as the travel route through the gateways into Munich.
This allows fans from neighbouring countries to easily reach the city via some of the best rail links in Europe.
For those who cannot directly enter the stadium to witness the top matches, the city has also set up fan zones to serve the thousands of fans who will come to cheer on the opening match of EURO 2024.
In order to detect potential troublemakers early, the German national police force has coordinated with forces from the European Union Police Agency (Europol) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), along with security experts, to exchange information about groups of hooligan fans or those who have participated in conflicts or violence in the stands.
In Munich, officers worked for three days (before, during and after the match), including plainclothes officers on the pitch to monitor the situation.
It can be said that security has never been at such a high level. At the Allianz Arena, about 3-4 hours before the opening ceremony, tens of thousands of fans had poured in to cheer.
Although security checks sometimes seem overloaded, the authorities and volunteers still work very carefully and strictly.
In addition to the regulation of not being allowed to bring machinery, personal belongings that are at risk of explosion or bags larger than an A4 sheet of paper, at the security gate, each person entering the stadium will have their bag carefully checked before going to the automatic door to enter the stadium.
Meanwhile, the German military also closely monitors the air to detect drone attacks.
One of the factors that cannot be ignored is the organization of traffic flows to and from the stadium, which has been carefully calculated. After the match, fans cannot rush to the U-bahn (subway), S-Bahn (city railway) stations or bus stops around the stadium.
To avoid prolonged traffic jams or the risk of violence outside the checkpoints where security forces have been deployed, the organizing unit has also divided the area into many different areas and exits.
The number of people entering and exiting will be controlled at each entrance to avoid unnecessary chaos.
Allianz Arena - the venue for the EURO 2024 opening ceremony - is one of the most modern and largest stadiums in Germany, with a capacity of more than 66,000 seats.
The opening ceremony, although only lasting more than 8 minutes before the match between Germany and Scotland began, was enough to impress viewers.
At this ceremony, the organizers decided to pay tribute to German football legend Franz Beckenbauer - who passed away last January.
Beckenbauer's wife Heidi and two former German football stars, Bernard Dietz and Jurgen Klinsmann, brought the EURO Cup onto the field.
German football star Franz Beckenbauer is considered one of the outstanding players who led the German national team to glory at UEFA Euro 1972 and the 1974 World Cup, and also led the German team to success at the 1990 World Cup as a coach./.
At 2 a.m., many restaurants and bars in Hanoi were still lit up as football fans gathered to watch the opening match of EURO 2024 between Germany and Scotland.
