In the early hours of September 5th, the German national team had a night to forget, suffering a 0-2 defeat against Slovakia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
This defeat also extends Nagelsmann's team's disappointing run of form. This is their third consecutive loss in all competitions. Previously, they lost to Portugal and France in the semi-finals and third-place match of the Nations League.
In the match against Slovakia, stars like Liverpool's Florian Wirtz, Newcastle United's new signing Nick Woltemade, and Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger all played the full 90 minutes. However, they failed to showcase their class and contributed to their teams' humiliating defeats.
Speaking after the match, coach Nagelsmann could not hide his disappointment and anger. He harshly criticized his players' attitude, saying the team lacked emotion and a desire to win.
"We didn't show the emotion and the desire to win in today's match," Nagelsmann said.

The peak of frustration came when the strategist publicly warned of a drastic personnel change, prioritizing fighting spirit: "We have selected the best players in Germany. But perhaps I need to put less emphasis on skill level and more on players who are willing to give their all on the field," Nagelsmann declared.
This defeat could cost Germany their place in Group 1 for the 2026 World Cup draw, as they have dropped out of the top 9 in the FIFA rankings.
