Thu Vinh wins two gold medals and breaks two SEA Games records.

Vietnamese shooting started the day of competition on December 14th impressively when the trio of Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Trang, and Trieu Thi Hoa Hong brilliantly won the gold medal in the women's 10m air pistol team event, simultaneously breaking the SEA Games record.

The three Vietnamese female shooters entered the qualifying round with high concentration. Nguyen Thuy Trang and Trinh Thu Vinh both scored 574 points, while Trieu Thi Hoa Hong scored 563 points. The total score of 1,711 put the Vietnamese shooting team in the lead, far ahead of their direct competitors and officially breaking the previous Games record.

The result brought the first gold medal of the day on December 14th for the Vietnamese sports delegation, while also affirming the strong position of shooting in the regional arena. Host nation Thailand finished second with 1,702 points, while Malaysia won the bronze medal with 1,701 points, demonstrating the very close competition in this event.

Trieu Thi Hoa Hong is a shooter representing Ho Chi Minh City sports, while Trinh Thu Vinh and Nguyen Thuy Trang represent the People's Police sports team. The seamless coordination between shooters from different units created a near-perfect performance, bringing a convincing victory for Vietnamese shooting.

For Trinh Thu Vinh, the team gold medal holds special significance. This is her first gold medal at a SEA Games, after previously participating in the 31st SEA Games on home soil but failing to reach the top of the podium. This historic achievement provides great motivation for the shooter born in 2000 in her journey to conquer new milestones.

Immediately after the team event, both Trinh Thu Vinh and Nguyen Thuy Trang continued to compete in the women's 10m air pistol individual final, which took place at noon the same day. In this event, Trinh Thu Vinh continued to demonstrate her superior skill and class.

She maintained her composure throughout each round of shooting, handling the crucial moments with composure to score 242.7 points, winning her second gold medal of the day and once again breaking the SEA Games record. The final was even more significant when Nguyen Thuy Trang won the silver medal with 241.7 points, helping Vietnamese shooting secure the top two positions on the podium.

Winning two gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games is not only a brilliant milestone in Trinh Thu Vinh's career, but also marks a significant step forward for the shooter who had previously missed out on SEA Games gold medals on numerous occasions. From being a key player in the team event to becoming the individual champion, Thu Vinh demonstrated all-around excellence in both technical skills and competitive mentality.

Trinh Thu Vinh's success also helped affirm the enduring strength of Vietnamese shooting in regional competitions. In a single day, the team broke records and swept medals, continuing to make a significant contribution to the overall achievements of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.
