On September 21, in Hanoi , the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group (Petrovietnam) held a ceremony to receive the First Class Labor Medal and celebrate the 50th anniversary of its establishment (September 3, 1975 - September 3, 2025). General Secretary To Lam attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.
Also attending the ceremony were Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Phan Dinh Trac; Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh ; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security; Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai.

The celebration was also attended by domestic and foreign partners of Petrovietnam and many generations of leaders and oil and gas workers through the ages.
"5 An" and "5 Nhat" are full of pride
Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Mr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Board of Members of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group, said that the period of rapid and breakthrough development of the Vietnamese oil and gas industry began after the historic milestone of September 3, 1975: the Vietnam General Department of Oil and Gas was officially established.
After 50 years of accompanying the country, under the leadership of the Party and the State, Petrovietnam has completed the mission of building and developing a synchronous and modern oil and gas industry on par with the region and the world; from exploration, exploitation, gas industry to oil and gas processing and distribution industry, electricity and renewable energy industry, high-quality technical services, forming a backbone energy infrastructure system, national strategy - the driving force for the country's socio-economic development, demonstrated through the proud "5 An" and "5 Nhat".
With "5 An", they are: National energy security; Economic security; Food security; National defense security; Social security.
With "5 Best", they are: Enterprise with the largest scale; Unit with the highest budget contribution; Enterprise with the highest profit; The only enterprise to win many prestigious awards in science and technology, including 6 Ho Chi Minh awards and 4 State awards, along with dozens of prestigious domestic and international inventions; Leading enterprise achieving the highest level in social security activities.
"Entering a new era, Petrovietnam strives to be one of the 500 largest enterprises in the world by 2030, developing strongly and sustainably. Innovating and modernizing the management system in line with the model of the National Industry-Energy Group; focusing on developing science, technology, innovation, especially 10 strategic technologies, 32 key products, with the target of 25% revenue from science and technology; managing talents, preparing high-quality human resources for the future; developing national eco-energy industry centers; strengthening international cooperation, investment, export and business, striving for 30% international revenue; enhancing corporate culture in line with the new mission and vision through developing Petrovietnam's people and knowledge", Mr. Le Manh Hung, Chairman of the Group's Board of Members, emphasized in his commemorative speech.
Shift from "resource exploitation" to "energy - industry - knowledge creation"
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam commended and congratulated the great achievements of the Vietnam National Industry and Energy Group over the past 50 years.
According to the General Secretary, looking back at the past 50 years, Petrovietnam has made great contributions, many years reaching 20%-30% of the total State Budget revenue, making an important contribution to stabilizing the macro economy, ensuring national energy security; even contributing to maintaining the lifeblood of society, contributing to protecting the security of the regime, in difficult times, in the face of world political fluctuations.
In his speech, General Secretary To Lam also highly appreciated the Group's initiative on the program "Education and STEM Practice Room". Through educational companion programs, the Group has deployed STEM classrooms in many localities - a model for nurturing science and technology human resources for the future. From there, the General Secretary requested the Minister of Education and Training, the Provincial/City Party Secretaries, and the General Director of Vietnam Television to closely coordinate with Petrovietnam to effectively organize and deploy systematic program connections; summarize, evaluate, draw lessons and further replicate this very meaningful model and program.
The General Secretary said that today's world is rapidly shifting to a green economy, digital economy and smart artificial intelligence, with unprecedented breakthroughs in technology and governance.
In that context, the Central Committee and the Politburo have issued many new, breakthrough and strategic policies and orientations such as the Resolutions of the 11th Central Committee Conference, the 12th Central Committee Conference, Resolutions No. 57, 59, 66, 68, 70, 71, 72 of the Politburo to implement three very important goals: Maintaining a peaceful and stable environment; developing the economy rapidly and sustainably; improving people's lives. These policies are important strategic orientations for national development in the coming period that each level, sector and organization from the Central to local levels need to specify, thoroughly grasp and implement.
Along with that, Petrovietnam is also responsible for implementing Conclusion 76 of the Politburo on strategic orientation for the development of Vietnam's oil and gas industry to 2025 and vision to 2035 and some orientations for the new period. This is the guiding principle for the Group to shift from "resource exploitation" to "energy - industry - knowledge creation".
In the new development strategy, the General Secretary requested the Group to firmly ensure national energy security; proactively build strategic reserve capacity, regulate, supply and dispatch flexibly in association with energy security, national defense security and economic independence and autonomy; lead industrialization and modernization: Develop industry and technical services as pillars; focus on completing and expanding integrated refinery - petrochemical - chemical complexes; develop mechanical engineering to manufacture drilling rigs, energy equipment, new materials, increase the localization rate in the supply chain; build national industrial - ecological energy centers, associated with infrastructure and supporting industries; promote high-tech services to gradually turn the Group into a leading industrial - technical contractor in the region.
At the same time, pioneer in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; innovate governance, perfect the corporate governance model according to international practices to improve efficiency and safety; strengthen enforcement discipline, prevent loss and waste; ensure the principles of transparency, integrity, efficiency and sustainability; actively integrate internationally and promote the strength of economic sectors to connect for common development.
At the ceremony, the General Secretary presented Petrovietnam with 8 words: "Pioneer - Outstanding - Sustainable - Global"
According to the General Secretary, " Pioneer " to lead the cause of industrialization, modernization and energy transition, digital and green transformation, enhance integration, affirm Vietnam's mettle and intelligence. " Outstanding" in efficiency, competitiveness and innovation, becoming a typical model of state-owned enterprises. " Sustainable " in vision and action, harmonious development between economic growth, environmental protection, social security and national responsibility. " Global " in aspiration and strength, reaching out to the ocean, positioning Vietnam in the international arena, confident in the ranks of the world's leading enterprises.
The General Secretary believes that with its glorious tradition, mettle, intelligence, professionalism and loyalty, with its faith and aspiration to rise, the Vietnam National Energy and Industry Group will continue to be a pillar of the economy, a "national enterprise" for the national interest, the pride of the Party, the State and the people; contributing to realizing the country's two 100-year goals and the aspiration to build a strong and prosperous Vietnam.
In recognition of Petrovietnam's important contributions to the country, at the ceremony, the Party and State awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the Group; awarded the First Class Labor Medal to comrade Le Manh Hung, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Board of Members; awarded the Second Class Labor Medal to comrades: Le Ngoc Son, General Director and Le Manh Cuong, Deputy General Director; awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to comrades: Tran Quang Dung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Le Xuan Huyen, Deputy General Director; Phan Tu Giang, Deputy General Director and Vu Dao Minh, Head of the Group's Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Department.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishment and growth, under the witness of General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Party and State leaders, Petrovietnam launched the STEM Innovation Petrovietnam program, building STEM meeting rooms applying digital technology, gradually upgrading the educational infrastructure system, connecting schools, localities and internationally. The total cost of implementing the program is about 500 billion VND, taken by Petrovietnam from the Group's annual social security budget. From now until the end of 2025, the program will deploy 3 typical STEM classrooms in each province, connecting with each other and connecting between localities, connecting with Singapore's educational and training facilities.
Within the framework of the Anniversary Ceremony, Petrovietnam opened the Science and Technology Exhibition displaying outstanding scientific and technological achievements in the past 50 years. The exhibits on display and introduced at the exhibition represent achievements and contributions in science and technology, affirming the core competencies of Petrovietnam in the process of national development. The exhibition will take place on September 21 and 22; open to the public, free of charge from 8am to 9pm on September 22 for the public to visit.
