The reason is that An Hiep landfill is implementing solutions to overcome environmental pollution, waiting for further notice.
During the temporary suspension of collection and transportation of household waste, agencies, units, households, production and business establishments are requested to proactively implement measures to store household waste on-site to ensure hygiene and safety. In neighboring communes, people also received similar notices while waiting for environmental pollution at An Hiep landfill to be remedied.
Regarding the pollution issue at An Hiep landfill, on the afternoon of July 21, dozens of people living around An Hiep landfill (An Hiep commune and Ba Tri commune, Vinh Long province) organized to prevent garbage trucks from entering An Hiep landfill to dump because of environmental pollution. On July 22, leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Police, the People's Committees of An Hiep and Ba Tri communes, along with related units and localities, continued to organize meetings and dialogues with people to persuade garbage trucks to enter the landfill. Through the meetings, most of the people's opinions requested to stop receiving garbage to completely resolve the odor problem at the landfill. In case the odor cannot be treated, the landfill is requested to stop receiving waste from other localities.

At the dialogue, the leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the leaders of the People's Committees of An Hiep and Ba Tri communes, and the leaders of the landfill operator committed to the people to promptly apply technical solutions to control odors (cover ponds No. 11 and No. 12 with PE tarpaulin) within 5 days at the latest and to resolve the people's satisfactory requests. When the tarpaulin covering was completed, the People's Committee of An Hiep commune, together with the departments and branches, invited representatives of the people to inspect. Then, a meeting was held to agree on re-operating the An Hiep landfill.
This is the third time that people have blocked vehicles from entering the An Hiep landfill because of environmental pollution. After many dialogues, the local government has committed to remedying the pollution at this landfill, but every rainy season the pollution problem recurs, causing frustration among many households. Currently, around the An Hiep landfill, there are 132 households in Ba Tri commune and An Hiep commune within a radius of 1,000m affected by environmental pollution from the landfill.
