Rockslide in Thanh Hoa: Bodies of the remaining 2 victims have been found.

On the morning of May 21st, Pham Minh Vu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Tu commune (Thanh Hoa province), announced that after many hours of effort, the authorities had found the bodies of the two remaining victims in the rockslide at the quarry of Anh Tuan Limited Liability Company.

Throughout the night of May 20th and the early morning of May 21st, hundreds of police officers, soldiers, and firefighters used excavators, specialized vehicles, drones, sniffer dogs, and thermal imaging equipment to search for victims. After many efforts, the body of victim HVN (born in 1988) was found at 6:20 AM; the body of victim LVQ (born in 1989) was found at 8:23 AM on May 21st. During the night of May 20th, rescue forces found Mr. LVT (born in 1986) and took him to the hospital, but he did not survive. Authorities have completed the necessary legal procedures and handed over the bodies to the families for burial.

According to initial reports, at approximately 5 PM on May 20th, a serious workplace accident occurred due to a rockslide at the quarry in Cam Tu commune, owned by Anh Tuan Co., Ltd. At that time, workers LVT (born in 1986), LVQ (born in 1989), and HVN (born in 1988), all residing in Lao Cai province, were working at the foot of a rocky mountain when they were suddenly buried by rocks and soil sliding down from above.

Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Cao Van Cuong, was present at the scene and directed functional units to urgently deploy rescue and relief work, protect the scene, and ensure safety measures in the mine area; and to organize visits, encouragement, and support for the families of the victims.

Recognizing this as a serious labor accident causing significant loss of life, on the night of May 20th, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, Nguyen Hoai Anh, issued Official Document No. 9215/UBND-CNXDKH regarding the urgent remediation of the serious labor accident that occurred at the stone quarry in Cam Tu commune. The document clearly stated the directive: Agencies and units must urgently organize rescue and search operations for missing victims, ensuring absolute safety for rescue personnel; investigate and clarify the cause of the accident; strictly handle any organizations or individuals who violated the law (if any); and report to the Chairman of the People's Committee of the province immediately after receiving the initial investigation results for timely corrective measures. Anh Tuan Limited Liability Company is to focus on coordinating with functional forces to carry out rescue and relief work; and fully fulfill its responsibilities towards the victims and their families. The company must review the entire mining process and labor safety conditions at the mine, promptly address any shortcomings and limitations in mineral mining operations, and absolutely prevent similar incidents from occurring in the unit's mining area.

Reportedly, the quarry area of ​​Anh Tuan Limited Liability Company continues to face the risk of rockfalls, posing a serious safety hazard.
