Under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea founded by President Kim Il Sung (October 10, 1945), and succeeded by leaders Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, the Korean people have achieved important achievements in the cause of building and defending the socialist country, especially in developing infrastructure, mining, heavy industry, health care, education ... in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century; overcoming numerous difficulties, especially in energy and food, since the 90s of the 20th century.
Despite facing many challenges due to sanctions and the Covid-19 pandemic, the 8th National Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea (January 2021) still emphasized the task of successfully building socialism, focusing on restructuring the economy , continuing to improve national defense capacity, promoting science and technology development and comprehensively improving foreign relations.
The Congress proposed the 5-year National Economic Development Plan for the 2021-2025 period, affirming the spirit of "self-reliance", focusing on developing the metallurgical and chemical industries, and attaching importance to agricultural development.
Implementing the guidelines set out at the 8th Congress, the Party has led the Korean people to make every effort, gradually overcoming difficulties, continuing to achieve achievements in national defense, industry... The Party leads the State to focus on socio-economic development through the policy of "taking people as the center", continuing to prioritize solving urgent people's livelihood issues such as housing and food; focusing on implementing the 20x10 Local Development Policy (building 20 modern factories in localities each year within 10 years, aiming to narrow the regional development gap) and promoting the completion in the period of 2021-2025 of the construction of 50,000 apartments in the capital Pyongyang to provide free of charge to workers.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam (January 31, 1950). Over the past 75 years, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Korea, founded by President Ho Chi Minh and President Kim Il Sung, has always been valued by the two Parties, States and peoples, and has been constantly consolidated and developed. The two sides have maintained mutual support and assistance in the struggle for national liberation and the construction of socialism in each country.
During the resistance war against the US, Vietnam received both material and spiritual support from North Korea. North Korea provided Vietnam with equipment and machinery, helped train students and interns, and sent pilots to Vietnam...
For its part, since the war, the Vietnamese people have repeatedly supported the North Korean people with tens of thousands of tons of rice. Among the areas of cooperation, agriculture is one of the bright spots. Vietnamese agricultural experts have helped their North Korean counterparts grasp advanced techniques in rice breeding and rice cultivation, contributing to the recent bumper harvests.
The traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and North Korea has continued to be strengthened and developed in recent years, with a very important milestone being the official friendship visit to Vietnam by leader Kim Jong Un in early March 2019. Since the beginning of this year, the two countries have organized a series of activities within the framework of the Vietnam-North Korea Friendship Year, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
When visiting North Korea in 1957, President Ho Chi Minh once said: Vietnam and North Korea are far apart, but our hearts are very close. We are closely connected by brotherly love. North Korean pilots shed their blood for Vietnam. Not only did Vietnamese rice help the North Korean people overcome crop failures and famine, but Vietnamese agricultural experts also helped North Korean farmers gradually ensure food security. The two Parties, two States and peoples will never forget this affection, will always cherish, preserve and continue to nurture it.
