
Over the past 40 years, Vietnam's nuclear energy industry has made many important strides: from basic research, applications in medicine, agriculture , industry, to radiation safety, environmental monitoring, human resource training and gradually approaching advanced nuclear technologies in the world.
These contributions have made practical contributions to socio -economic development, public health protection and energy security of the country.
The conference took place in the context that Vietnam has decided to return to the nuclear power development program and issued many important policies and legal documents to promote the development of atomic energy in many areas of socio-economic life.

Nuclear energy has been assigned important tasks in the process of national development and maintaining national security and defense. These new tasks require new requirements in terms of vision, capacity and human resources.
Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh said: This conference also aims to promote international cooperation. This is an important opportunity for scientists, management agencies, domestic and foreign organizations to exchange and share research results, initiatives and solutions to concretize the General Secretary's directive into the practical development of Vietnam's atomic energy industry.
At the conference, delegates presented more than 200 scientific reports in many fields from basic research, technology development, practical application to safety management.

In particular, the Plenary Session focused on advanced nuclear technologies based on an overview of the development achievements and contributions of countries with advanced nuclear technology in the world.
In addition, the reports also discussed key tasks such as the Nuclear Science and Technology Research Center Project (CNST), the Small Modular Reactor Project (SMR); Electron beam technology and the development of accelerators for irradiation... as well as the human resource development plan and solutions to improve Vinatom's technical support capacity...
Through that, Vietnamese and international scientists exchange and share experiences, and at the same time propose new directions suitable to the country's development needs.
The conference takes place from now until October 10.
