Cha Lo International Border Guard Station is responsible for managing and protecting a border section of over 28.5km in length, in charge of Dan Hoa border commune, Minh Hoa district, Quang Binh province, including 11 villages, mainly inhabited by ethnic minorities. On the border section the unit is in charge of, there is Cha Lo International Border Gate, which connects with Laos via National Highway 12A, playing an important role in trade and import and export of goods between Vietnam and Laos. In the conditions of large traffic of people and vehicles, rugged terrain, the border area managed by the unit is potentially exploited by all kinds of criminals. Among them, crimes such as cross-border drug trafficking, transportation of prohibited goods, explosives, etc. are prominent.

Based on the actual situation of the area, the Cha Lo International Border Post has proactively deployed synchronous measures, coordinated with other forces, and ensured that activities in the border area and border gates successfully completed their assigned tasks. At all times, the unit always organizes forces to strictly control the border and border gates and promptly handle activities related to import, export, and immigration in accordance with regulations.
Over the past 5 years, the Cha Lo International Border Guard Station has organized 131 rounds/901 officers and soldiers to patrol unilaterally; 11 rounds/136 officers and soldiers to patrol bilaterally along the border. On the crime prevention and combat front, the unit has successfully coordinated 15 special projects, presided over the arrest and prosecution of 27 cases/arrested 49 subjects, of which over 546 thousand synthetic drug pills; 250 kg of crystal meth; 8.2 kg of heroin; 37.5 kg of dried marijuana and many related exhibits were seized.

Along with the task of protecting border security and sovereignty, managing border gates, the unit always closely coordinates with local authorities to join hands to build a grassroots political system and care for people's lives. Up to now, Cha Lo International Border Guard Station has arranged 1 cadre to strengthen the position of deputy secretary of the commune party committee, 2 party members temporarily working at the village party cell, 20 cadres and party members in charge of 90 households in the area. Through the work of staying close to the area, border party members advise and coordinate with local authorities to maintain 4 groups/57 individuals participating in "self-management of border lines and national border markers"; 13 groups/128 individuals participating in "self-management of security and order in border villages"; 1 group/32 individuals participating in "self-management of security and order in border gate areas".

Officers and soldiers of the Cha Lo International Border Post have also effectively promoted models to help people such as: Helping people in Ka Ai village grow wet rice, the model "Border light"; the program "Helping children go to school - Adopted children of the Border Post"; "Combination of military, civilian and medical staff". Specifically, the unit has mobilized charitable organizations to build and maintain 11 "border light" projects in border villages; built 6 new "border welcome gates" projects; coordinated to build 8 solidarity houses, 1 happy house, 1 team house. The unit has installed "remote village radio" projects in 11/11 villages in Dan Hoa commune; Building a pig farming livelihood model for 5 households, donating 2 rice threshing machines to Ka Ai and Ba Looc villages... The meaningful activities of the soldiers in green uniforms have contributed to building a strong border area and a solid people's position, which is highly appreciated by local authorities and people.
