Previously, on the afternoon of December 3, at Khuoi Luong hamlet, Tra Linh commune (Cao Bang province), the Economic Police Department's working group coordinated with the Traffic Police Department, Cao Bang Provincial Police, while on duty, discovered a 7-seat car transporting 2 sealed foam boxes with signs of suspected illegal trading and transportation of wild animals.
During the inspection, the authorities discovered inside the styrofoam boxes a total of 12 live Javan pangolins – a species that is threatened with extinction and is protected at the highest level by law.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Wildlife Conservation Center in Vietnam coordinated with officers and staff of Cuc Phuong National Park to travel hundreds of kilometers to urgently rescue the above pangolins. All animals were confiscated to serve the investigation to clarify the violation.

A representative of Cuc Phuong National Park said that through inspection and first aid of the above pangolins, it was found that the animals were stuffed with food to increase their weight before being sold and were all dehydrated and exhausted. Currently, 12 pangolins are being brought to the Rescue Center at Cuc Phuong National Park for further care and recovery.
Representatives of Cuc Phuong National Park also said that at the end of the year, illegal hunting, transporting and trading of wild animals is taking place in a complicated manner with many tricks.
In recent times, forces at Cuc Phuong National Park have organized many rescues and re-releases of Java pangolins into the wild, contributing to the protection of many endangered and rare animals in group IB, which are threatened with extinction globally. Most recently, at the end of November, Cuc Phuong National Park coordinated with the Wildlife Conservation Center in Vietnam and Bach Ma National Park ( Hue City) to release 7 Java pangolins back into the wild.
