As the only team in the Volleyball Nations League 2023 that has not lost any match, Japan has received great confidence from domestic and international fans in today's match. Three minutes after the whistle to start the match, Japan overwhelmed China with a score of 7-2. On the other side of the battle line, the Chinese boys tried to catch up but could not equalize the score. And while they were trying, Japan was only 1 point away from the finish line (Japan 24-18 China). But surprisingly, China scored 8 consecutive points to win, surprising tens of thousands of people present at the Mall of Asia Stadium - Philippines.

In the second half, the battle became more intense. This time, Japan managed to restrain the Chinese players at the most important points to win a thrilling 25-23 victory.

After 2 rounds, the match was back to balance. The current situation was very difficult for both teams, just a small mistake could cost the whole team a round loss and even the whole match. In this set, Japan improved their defensive shortcomings.

However, the attack was almost predictable by the opponent's blockers. China's height advantage was maximized by the blockers. In the end, China took the lead and won 25-21.

Victory was now only one set away for the Chinese team, but with the tenacity and bravery of the rising young players, Japan once again turned the game around. The third set ended with a thrilling score of 25-23 for Japan.

The match was once again in balance, both teams had to enter the 5th overtime to decide the winner. In this round, both teams only had 15 points to strive for.

Despite playing in the Philippines, Japan received the same support and cheers as if they were at home. Thanks to that, the team seemed to gain strength and advanced to the finish line with a 15-12 victory over China. With this victory, Japan extended its unbeaten streak to 9 matches in the 2023 Volleyball Nations League.
