However, with the belief that if you work hard, the land will not let you down, the couple worked day and night to reclaim land, build houses, develop livestock and grow crops. Now looking back at the achievements we have built, we see that our hard work over the past decades has not been in vain.

According to Mr. Tran Van Hoa and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy, as soon as they set foot on the new land, the family spent all their little savings and effort to improve each plot of land, determined to escape poverty.
They started with a few cows, pigs, and a flock of about 10 chickens, then learned techniques to test growing green-skinned grapefruit. The difficulties were gradually resolved when the family was approved by the Social Policy Bank for a loan of 70 million VND to develop the economy. With this capital, the family boldly invested in building barns, buying cows, breeding pigs, free-range chickens, and improving the land to grow 500 green-skinned grapefruit trees.
While working, gaining experience, and studying hard to apply scientific and technical advances to production, after about 5 years, Mr. Hoa's family's comprehensive economic farm model has begun to generate stable income.
After 25 years of living and building a life in the new land, Mr. Hoa and Mrs. Thuy's family now own a spacious property, a typical comprehensive economic model of Tuyen Lam commune.
The solid barn system can regularly raise over 100 pigs, 25 buffaloes and cows, a flock of about 100 chickens and 2 ponds for raising various types of fish to serve the needs of people in the surrounding area. In addition to raising livestock, the family also develops an orchard with over 1,000 grapefruit trees of various types, covering 3 hectares of hilly land.
The average total income is over 100 million VND/year, at favorable times reaching 200 million VND/year. This is an impressive number for a household in the highlands. The family's economy is quite good, Mr. Hoa and Mrs. Thuy's children have the conditions to study fully, some of them are now adults, have families and have stable lives.
In particular, the farm model of Mr. and Mrs. has been recognized by the People's Committee of Tuyen Hoa district (old) as a new rural model garden in 2024, marking a remarkable development step from a poor household to a typical example of sustainable economic development in the locality.
Evaluating the model, Chairman of the Farmers’ Association of Tuyen Lam Commune Phan Ngoc Anh said: “Mr. Tran Van Hoa’s family is one of the typical examples of good economic performance in the locality, worthy for many other households to learn and follow. The sustainable economic efficiency of the farm has helped the family escape poverty and become rich legitimately.
This model is very suitable for highland conditions, so in the coming time, the Commune Farmers' Association will continue to coordinate to support and replicate the model throughout the commune. This is also the right direction in sustainable agricultural development, contributing to promoting new rural construction in mountainous areas."
The story and journey of escaping poverty of Mr. Tran Van Hoa and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Thuy has proven that, no matter how low the starting point is, with willpower, perseverance and acumen in production, farmers can still rise up to become masters of their lives on their homeland.
