A teacher teaching in the center of Ho Chi Minh City lost her laptop like many others who lost their belongings. But unlike many people in this situation who would try to buy it back by borrowing, paying in installments, or buying liquidated goods, the teacher immediately thought of... social mobilization. That is, mobilizing parents to contribute money to buy her a personal computer.
Thinking is doing, she "asked" right before the first parent-teacher meeting of the year. More than anyone else, as a teacher, she understands best the "mechanism of asking and giving", the mechanism of mobilization and volunteering in schools.
Asking is not really asking when the person being asked cannot easily refuse, cannot say "no".
Therefore, 29 parents paid 14.5 million VND right at the parent meeting. Of which, the teacher asked for... 6 million VND to buy a laptop worth 11 million VND, she added 5 million VND.
But when someone voted "no" to support her in buying a laptop, she immediately asked: "Which child's parent are you?"
The mobilization and socialization of funds in schools cannot be separated from the direct response to students' activities. But in reality, not only teachers asking parents for money to buy personal computers using the socialization of education card, but many other ridiculous funds in schools also call "parents".
From the lawn, playground, classroom, table, chair, tiled floor, or speaker attached to the TV, repairing the school gate, to the monthly internet connection and payment… in many schools, it all goes to the parents.
The funniest thing is that in many schools, after socialization, mobilizing parents to contribute enough, there is still a new amount called "socialization".
At Vinh Thanh Kindergarten, Phuoc Long District, Bac Lieu Province, the school once collected all fees, including money for kitchen utensils even though parents had paid for meals and boarding fees, and also set a socialized education fee of 300,000 VND/student/year.
Afterwards, the principal of this school was disciplined with a warning for collecting socialized money against regulations.

Or at a secondary school in Thanh Hoa not long ago, in addition to the planned 16 collections including collections according to regulations, collections from student-related organizations, and student self-service collections, there was also a collection called "socialization" of 300,000 VND/student. The school explained that this collection was to pay off the school's old debt.
Socialization here is not socialization but turns out to be an overcharge.
Overcharging under the guise of socialization, and the socialization of education being distorted right in schools, is a problem that has been warned about for a long time.
Everyone sees and knows this problem, but it is not solved or dealt with, but rather seems to grow and multiply to the point that when a teacher loses his personal computer, he immediately calls it "socialization".
The incident of a teacher asking parents for money is shocking and shocking, but we need to face it, it is not rare or strange in schools with the cloak of socialization.
