On the morning of November 1st, the awards ceremony for the 2023 Victory Cup took place in Hanoi. The Victory Cup is held annually to honor athletes, coaches, and teams who have achieved outstanding results in Vietnamese sports during the past year.

One of the most notable categories of the 2023 Victory Cup is Male Athlete of the Year. The eight nominees for this category are Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Nguyen Van Khanh Phong (gymnastics), Pham Quang Huy (shooting), Lai Gia Thanh (weightlifting), Le Khanh Hung (golf), Nguyen Quoc Toan (weightlifting), Pham Thanh Bao (swimming), and Lai Ly Huynh (chess).

Pham Quang Huy is on the list of nominees for the 2023 Victory Cup.

Among the aforementioned athletes, Pham Quang Huy stands out. He won the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games in the 10-meter air pistol event. This was the only individual gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation, alongside two team gold medals in sepak takraw and karate.

In addition, the Female Athlete of the Year category also attracted attention. Eight athletes were nominated for this category: Nguyen Thi Oanh (athletics), Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (volleyball), Nguyen Thi Huyen (athletics), Tran Thi Ngoc Yen (sepak takraw), Duong Thuy Vi (wushu), Nguyen Thi Ngoan (karatedo), and Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton).

The 2023 Victory Cup also includes other categories such as Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Foreign Coach of the Year, Young Athlete of the Year, Most Beloved Athlete, Most Impressive Sports Image (Moment) of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Outstanding Disabled Athlete, and Teammate of the Year.

The total prize money for the 2023 Victory Cup is 750 million VND, with the prize money for the Team of the Year category being doubled (100 million VND).

Mr. Tran Duc Phan - a member of the selection committee - shared: " I am delighted that Vietnamese sports has a platform, a festival to honor those who have contributed to the country's sports. This year I was again invited to be on the selection committee. Since taking this position, I have not received any feedback about favoritism towards one person or another. On behalf of the selection committee, I affirm that we will work objectively, fairly, and accurately so that the athletes feel satisfied. I think this festival is a great joy for those involved in sports over the past year ."

- Outstanding Foreign Experts of the Year: Park Chung Gun (South Korea, shooting), David Grice (England, women's 3x3 basketball), Siyana Bozhilova (Bulgaria, aerobic gymnastics), Yu Zhi Guo (China, table tennis), Daniela Samuilova Kerkelova (Bulgaria, weightlifting).

- Team of the Year: Women's 3x3 Basketball Team, Beach Handball Team, Women's Indoor Volleyball Team, Vietnam Women's Soccer Team, Saigon Heat Club.

- Most Popular Athlete of the Year: This is the only category decided by the audience and fans, and will be announced earliest, on the morning of January 1, 2024.
