Verifying clip of 8th grade male student being 'beaten up' by classmates

On September 27, Mr. Vo Huu Tran, Principal of Trung Hieu Secondary School (Vung Liem District, Vinh Long), said that he had reported the incident of a male student being "beaten up" to the authorities; at the same time, he asked the Vung Liem District Police to investigate and handle the case.

Accordingly, in the past few days, a 3-minute clip has been circulating on Facebook, recording a group of 8th graders "ganging up" on a classmate with a helmet, broom, wooden chair... and stomping on his head multiple times. The entire incident was recorded by another student using a phone.

After the clip appeared on social media, many people expressed outrage and condemned the brutal beating of their friend. At the same time, they requested that authorities promptly and strictly handle the above students and take measures to prevent school violence, which is on the rise.

The incident is said to have occurred on the afternoon of September 23 in class 8/1 of Trung Hieu Secondary School. More than 4 8th grade students from the same school used helmets, brooms, wooden chairs... to beat a male student who was sitting huddled on a chair against the wall of the classroom. Being beaten repeatedly, this student could only hold his head and endure the beating while the other students cheered and encouraged him.

More notably, a student jumped up, used both feet to kick the male student straight in the head and repeatedly kicked his head, neck...; another student also used a wooden chair to throw at the male student...

Mr. Vo Huu Tran said that the beaten male student suffered soft tissue injuries and had to be hospitalized for treatment. He has now been discharged and is recuperating at home. The school is coordinating with relevant agencies to visit and encourage the student and verify and handle those involved.

On the same day, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Tran Cong Thanh, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Vung Liem district, said that the unit is coordinating with the school and relevant agencies to handle the case of the male student being "beaten up" mentioned above.
