Reporter: Sir, from June 1st, 2026, E10 gasoline will be implemented nationwide. Could you please explain the significance of deploying E10 bioethanol gasoline in the province within the framework of green energy development and the government 's policy of reducing emissions?

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung: The deployment of E10 bioethanol in the province is of significant importance in the roadmap for developing green energy, reducing emissions, and fulfilling Vietnam's commitment to net-zero emissions by 2050.

According to the roadmap of the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade , the introduction of E10 gasoline will contribute to reducing harmful emissions into the environment, gradually reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels, and progressively promoting the development of clean energy. At the same time, the use of bioethanol also opens up opportunities to promote the development of the processing industry and utilize domestic agricultural resources.

The deployment of E10 gasoline in the province also demonstrates the proactive approach of management agencies and businesses in implementing the government's policy of transitioning to green energy in line with sustainable development.

Reporter: Up to this point, how are preparations for the rollout of E10 gasoline in Tuyen Quang province progressing? How prepared are gasoline businesses for the transition?

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung: Following the direction of the Provincial People's Committee and Circular No. 50/2025/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on the roadmap for applying the blending ratio of biofuels with traditional fuels, since the beginning of 2026, the Department of Industry and Trade has issued many guiding documents and urged petroleum businesses in the area to proactively prepare the necessary conditions to implement the roadmap for switching to E10 gasoline. To date, the preparation work has been basically implemented synchronously. Businesses have reviewed and upgraded their storage tanks, pumps, pipelines, and technical equipment to meet the requirements for selling biofuels.

According to statistics, approximately 175 out of 209 gas stations in the province, or about 83.7%, have switched to selling E10 gasoline. It is expected that by June 1st, 2026, 100% of gas stations in the province will be selling this type of fuel. Alongside preparing the technical infrastructure, the Department of Industry and Trade is also coordinating with businesses to strengthen communication and guidance to help people better understand the benefits, safety, and compatibility of E10 gasoline with current vehicle types.

Reporter: Currently, some people still have concerns about the quality and compatibility of E10 gasoline with their vehicles. What recommendations does the Ministry of Industry and Trade have to reassure people about using this fuel?

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung: E10 gasoline is a blend of 90% mineral gasoline and 10% bioethanol. This type of fuel has been widely used in many countries around the world to reduce harmful emissions and protect the environment. It is understandable that people still have concerns about switching to this new fuel. However, according to assessments by specialized agencies and manufacturers, most cars and motorcycles currently in circulation are compatible with E10 bioethanol if the fuel is produced and blended according to technical standards.

To ensure the safety and well-being of their vehicles, people should choose to refuel at reputable gas stations that guarantee the quality of fuel as regulated. For older vehicles or those that are rarely used, people should proactively check the fuel system, rubber seals, and fuel tank to ensure proper functioning during use.

During use, if you notice any unusual signs such as difficulty starting, loss of power, or fuel leaks, you should take your vehicle to a technical facility for timely inspection and repair.

Reporter: In the coming period, what solutions will the Ministry of Industry and Trade implement to strengthen communication, create public consensus, and gradually introduce E10 gasoline into daily life?

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hung: In the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with localities, petroleum businesses, and media agencies to promote propaganda to help people understand the benefits, quality, and safety of E10 bioethanol. Along with that, the industry will strengthen inspection and supervision of petroleum quality on the market; direct the Market Management Sub-department and coordinate with relevant agencies to strictly handle violations related to quality and commercial fraud in order to build consumer confidence.

The Department of Industry and Trade also requested businesses to fully prepare the necessary infrastructure, including tanks, pumps, and personnel, to ensure the safe, stable, and continuous supply of E10 gasoline throughout the province.

The deployment of E10 biofuel is an important step in implementing the policy of developing clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and moving towards green growth and sustainable development. We expect that, with the proactive efforts of businesses and the support of regulatory agencies, people will gradually change their consumption habits and confidently use biofuels in the future.

Reporter: Thank you very much, sir!

The nationwide rollout of E10 biofuel from June 1, 2026, is a crucial step in the roadmap for developing green energy, reducing emissions, and protecting the environment. In the coming period, the unit will coordinate with relevant departments and agencies to strengthen inspections of gasoline and oil businesses in the area, focusing on compliance with regulations on fuel origin, quality, and business conditions at retail gasoline stations. Simultaneously, market management forces will intensify sampling and quality testing of E10 gasoline, promptly detecting and strictly handling violations such as trading in substandard or counterfeit gasoline, or violations of measurement regulations. Particularly in the initial phase of E10 biofuel rollout, authorities will focus on disseminating information and guiding businesses to comply with regulations, contributing to market stability and protecting consumer rights.

It's important to understand E10 gasoline correctly.

Currently, most car manufacturers on the market design engines that are compatible with biofuels, including E10 gasoline. Manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Kia, Peugeot, etc., have long met the standards for compatibility with ethanol-blended fuels. For vehicles manufactured within the last 10 years, especially those using electronic fuel injection technology, using E10 gasoline generally does not affect the engine or fuel injection system if the fuel meets quality standards.

However, the current concerns of consumers are understandable, especially for older vehicles (pre-2005) because poor-quality rubber gaskets or fuel lines can age faster; fuel consumption increases by about 2-5%. Therefore, users need to seek information from car manufacturers, maintenance facilities, and purchase fuel from reputable stores. During the transition period, users should monitor for any issues such as difficulty starting, vibration, or engine error messages, especially when using E10 gasoline.

Concerns about quality and consumption levels.

Managing Mai Linh Ha Giang Company Limited

Currently, the company has approximately 75-80 gasoline-powered taxis, accounting for nearly 70% of its total operating fleet. As a passenger transport business operating at high intensity daily, the company is particularly concerned about fuel quality and the impact on vehicle engines when switching to E10 gasoline. After a period of using E10 gasoline, some drivers have reported increased fuel consumption, unstable engine operation, and engine warning lights. Furthermore, revenue has decreased due to increased fuel costs. The biggest concern is the long-term impact of using E10 gasoline on the technical systems and engine durability of the vehicles. Given the nature of passenger transport, vehicles must operate continuously, so any technical malfunction directly affects safety and business efficiency. I hope that the authorities will maintain both types of gasoline in parallel to give businesses and consumers more choices to suit their actual needs.

A positive step forward in environmental protection.

When the government implemented the use of E10 gasoline nationwide, I fully agreed and hoped it would be a positive step in environmental protection. In recent years, the weather has been erratic, with more extreme heatwaves and heavy rains, so people have realized that reducing pollution and emissions is essential. In Ngoc Duong commune specifically, the increasing number of vehicles due to urbanization means that using green fuel will contribute to reducing smog and keeping the air in rural areas cleaner.

I hope that when E10 gasoline is widely used, it will be affordably priced so that people can easily access and use it long-term. At the same time, this type of gasoline needs to ensure quality, helping vehicles operate stably so that people can confidently use it in their daily lives, work, and production.
