Achieved many important and positive results

In the 2020-2025 term, the Da Nang Port Party Committee focused on innovating the implementation, dissemination and concretization of policies and resolutions of the Central Committee and higher levels in accordance with the actual situation of the Party Committee and proposed many strategic and comprehensive solutions; thereby achieving important results in Party building and leadership, implementing political tasks, and successfully completing key annual targets and tasks.
The Executive Committee of the Da Nang Port Party Committee at the beginning of the 2020-2025 term consisted of 15 comrades, the Standing Committee had 5 comrades, and now there are 14 comrades; the Standing Committee has 4 comrades. From April 2023, the Da Nang Port Party Committee was transferred to the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Shipping Lines with 271 party members operating in 21 affiliated grassroots party organizations, including 13 affiliated party cells and 1 divisional party cell (with 7 affiliated party cells); there are 2 party cells operating in units with less than 50% state capital, and 1 party cell operating in a unit with 100% private capital.

With the spirit of "Bringing the resolution into life", the Party Committee of Da Nang Port seriously implemented the contents of the Congress for the 2020-2025 term, concretizing them into action programs and clearly dividing them into periods. Each target and each output plan was closely directed by the Party Committee. Over the past 5 years, Da Nang Port has continuously completed and exceeded the set targets such as: container output increased by 60% (2024 compared to 2019); revenue increased by 75% (2024 compared to 2019); pre-tax profit increased by 65% (2024 compared to 2019); workers' income increased by 16.5% (2024 compared to 2019); at the same time, 79 new party members were admitted, reaching 198% of the congress resolution target (40 new party members). In addition, the rate of party organizations classified as having completed their tasks well is 80% or more; the rate of party members classified as having completed their tasks well is 90% or more; there is no party organization that has failed to complete its tasks over the years; the implementation targets are guaranteed according to the resolution.

During the past term, the Party Committee of Da Nang Port was awarded a certificate of merit by the City Party Committee: The Party organization has continuously completed its tasks excellently from 2020-2022; The Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Vietnam National Shipping Lines awarded a certificate of merit to the Party organization for successfully completing its tasks in 2023 and 2024. According to Mr. Le Quang Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy General Director of Da Nang Port, during the 2020-2025 term, Party work has not only been maintained but also raised to a new level, which is demonstrated by: firstly in political and ideological work; secondly in innovation in leadership work; thirdly in the work of building cadre organizations; fourthly in the work of inspection, supervision and party discipline; fifthly in mass mobilization work and mass organization work.

Regarding professional tasks, the targets that have been focused on have all increased very high, especially revenue and profit output. In addition, jobs and workers' lives are guaranteed and stable. Investment in infrastructure as well as equipment has been invested synchronously and modernly; the work of improving the application of science and technology, digital transformation in production has contributed to improving the competitiveness as well as the position of Da Nang port. Most of the targets of the resolution have been exceeded.

Building a strong team of cadres and party members to fulfill their tasks well

During the past term, the Party building work in terms of politics, ideology and ethics was focused on by the Da Nang Port Party Committee. Thereby, it contributed to building a contingent of cadres and party members who were steadfast in political stance, clean in ethics and lifestyle, and performed well the assigned tasks. Cadres and party members of the Party Committee enthusiastically participated in the third political writing contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation, fighting against erroneous and hostile views in 2023 (with 11 entries), 2024 (with 20 entries); responded to the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award of the Central Enterprises Bloc in 2023 (with 15 entries), in 2024 produced a television report to participate in the Golden Hammer and Sickle Award and won the B prize. The inspection and supervision work of the Party Committee was carried out seriously and in accordance with regulations. At the Party Committee, there has been no case of a party organization violating the law that was handled; There have been no complaints or denunciations against the party organization or party members.

The implementation of the 12th Central Committee Resolution 4, in conjunction with Directive No. 05/TW on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle has been seriously implemented, in conjunction with political tasks at the unit. The units take good care of the lives of workers, ensure reasonable salaries, bonuses and benefits, and implement well the policies and benefits. This creates a positive attitude at work, increases productivity, and makes workers stay with the unit for a long time.

Ms. Ho Thi Phuong Linh, Salary Organization Department, Da Nang Port shared: “I myself have always received enthusiastic attention and support from the leaders of Da Nang Port; I have been assigned appropriate tasks for me to practice and strive. I also regularly receive attention and support from leaders at all levels, Party cells and senior Party members, so I have gradually improved my moral qualities as well as improved my own capacity”. Determining the Dai Lai Action Statement 2021 of Vietnam National Shipping Lines as a guideline for building strategies, plans, targets, and production and business tasks for each year and each period, the Party Committee of Da Nang Port has deployed groups of solutions to implement the 6 contents of the statement to achieve production and business targets, ensure jobs, maintain income and material and spiritual life for workers.

Da Nang Port is the only port in the VIMC seaport system to date that has received the title of Outstanding Enterprise for Workers for 7 consecutive years. In any conditions, the Da Nang Port Party Committee always adheres to the political task of maintaining stable, safe and effective port operations, serving the marine economic development strategy of the city and the country.

Strong breakthrough in revenue and profit

The past term had many difficulties and challenges, the world situation had many complex fluctuations; Covid-19 and its post-Covid impact lasted for a long time, conflicts occurred in many places and directly affected important shipping routes... Despite facing the above unfavorable factors, the units actively promoted marketing, market development and achieved remarkable achievements.

Mr. Duong Duc Xuan, Member of the Party Executive Committee, Deputy General Director of Da Nang Port said: “At the beginning of the term, we encountered many difficulties, in fact, those were the difficulties of Covid-19 that cut off the supply chain and caused difficulties in the production chain. Despite many difficulties, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Board, we have gradually overcome the difficulties and the statistics show that. Firstly, comparing the development from the beginning of the term until now, output increased by 21%, revenue increased by 62% and profit increased by 41%. This is an encouraging number in the difficult conditions that we achieved, it shows that Da Nang's development still has a lot of room for development.”

2020 marked an important milestone when Da Nang Port welcomed the 500,000th Teu through the port. In 2021, Da Nang Port had a strong breakthrough in revenue and profit; revenue exceeded 1,000 billion VND, ranked among the enterprises with the largest revenue in the country. In 2022, Da Nang Port maintained stable growth, revenue increased by 10%, profit increased by 13% over the same period in 2021. In the following years, Da Nang Port maintained stable growth, revenue and profit both increased by over 10%, exceeding the set plan.

During the past term, investment work in units within the Party Committee was invested with a key focus and efficiency. Da Nang Port has put into use the area behind wharfs 4 and 5, put into operation 2 rail cranes at wharf TS5, 1 QCC crane at wharf TS4; started the investment project for the Logistics Service Center in Hoa Vang district; drastically implemented investment steps, focused resources to invest in the construction of Lien Chieu port, the starting phase. Da Nang Port Tugboat Company invested in a 3,264CV tugboat; Da Nang Port Logistics Company synchronously invested in equipment (Reach stacker, tractor, forklift) to serve production.

Tien Sa Port Enterprise Deputy Director Le Ba Vu said that, based on the 2025-2030 vision, the Tien Sa Port Enterprise Party Committee directed the departments to focus on 3 main goals. First, ensure the readiness of available facilities to reach 90 to 95%; second, boldly put the container management model into use towards an automated port in the production process; third, focus on developing the existing port human resources, retraining so that everyone can grasp the production process.

Meanwhile, Director of Danang Port Logistics Services Joint Stock Company Tran Phuoc Hong said: “Our Party cell is united in carrying out three key tasks: promoting the leadership role of the Party cell, focusing on digital transformation, developing the market and caring for the lives of officers, workers and employees, building a corporate culture for employee engagement. Thanks to clear and specific goals, after 5 years, the company's revenue increased by an average of 18% and the average life of employees increased by an average of 5%".

Focus on investing in equipment and people

According to Mr. Nguyen Duy Vinh, Head of the Investment Planning Department of Da Nang Port, in recent years, the Investment Planning Party Cell has advised the General Director to develop annual investment plans as well as develop infrastructure, equipment and information technology. In the past term, Da Nang Port has implemented more than 110 projects. Up to now, the investment projects have been completed and put into operation, promoting high efficiency, contributing to the success of the goals set by the port. In order to concretize the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress, term 2020-2025; in 2021 and 2022, the Da Nang Port Party Committee has chosen the theme of the year as the year of "digital transformation in enterprises".

The Information Technology Department was established from the Information Technology Department - Planning and Investment Department, playing a key role in drastically implementing the application of information technology in production activities, quickly resolving procedures in goods delivery. Da Nang Port is the first port in Vietnam to deploy automatic gate containers, accordingly many new technology solutions have been applied such as container code recognition, drivers using apps to interact and receive information.

Mr. Luu Van Dung, Head of Information Technology Department, Da Nang Port informed: “With the strong determination of the Party Secretary and General Director of Da Nang Port on digital transformation, we have recorded encouraging results. In 2020, we put into operation the ePort electronic port to help customers interact anytime, anywhere in the digital space, shortening the time for receiving and delivering goods. In particular, we successfully deployed the first automatic container gate in Vietnam to help customers go contactless, paperless, cashless and shorten the time for receiving and delivering containers from 35 minutes to 17 minutes…”.

Regarding the application of digital technology transformation in Party building work; The Party Committee Office has used financial software solutions to update and monitor Party fees according to the policy of the Party Committee of the Corporation. Pay attention to giving opinions on the development of the electronic Party member handbook software application implemented by the Party Committee of the Corporation.

According to Head of Customer Service Center, Tien Sa Port Enterprise, Tran Thi Thu Hien: The Party Cell also connects with customers through specific actions such as building "2 know" (knowing how to listen and knowing how to accompany customers), regularly organizing customer appreciation events during holidays and Tet to show solidarity and build trust with customers, encouraging Party members to proactively contact and support customers in handling procedures, especially in cases of fast customs clearance. Digital transformation has aimed at the goal of "taking customers as the center", ensuring that customers have the ability to interact "anytime, anywhere" in the digital space. Each customer's need is recorded and processed quickly through smart digital platforms, contributing to improving experience and satisfaction.

Ms. Dang Tran Gia Thoai, Director of VICONSHIP Da Nang shared: “As a logistics enterprise, we have seen positive changes at Da Nang Port from upgrading wharfs, modern loading and unloading equipment, and digital transformation information technology into the management and operation of delivery procedures to see digitalization and technology. As a business, we appreciate and thank the Port for its efforts in applying this technology to shorten delivery times, increase transparency and reduce costs for customers.”

During the 2020-2025 term, Da Nang Port not only maintained stable growth momentum, but also gradually realized strategic breakthroughs - clearly defined in the Resolution of the Party Congress. Units have promoted the movement of initiatives and technical improvements to solve and overcome difficulties and obstacles in production, ensure labor safety, and improve efficiency in production and business. In the 2020-2024 period, there were 146 enterprise-level initiatives and 217 port-level initiatives, of which 10 solutions were recognized at the city level; 9 solutions were recognized at the VIMC level. Notably, Da Nang Port won the Third Prize of the National Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (Vifotec), for the product "ePort software and Autogate automatic container gate"; First Prize of the Da Nang City Science and Technology Innovation Award.

Along with that, in the 2020-2025 term, Da Nang Port has been honored to achieve outstanding achievements: 7 consecutive years of receiving the title of Typical Enterprise for Employees (2018-2024); 8 consecutive years of reaching the top 500 most profitable enterprises (Frofit500) (2017-2024); continuing to be in the top 1,000 largest tax-paying enterprises in Vietnam (2021-2024) and ranked 10th in Da Nang city (2021-2023); top 100 Sustainable Enterprises (CSI) (2018-2024); Received a Certificate of Merit from the President of VCCI for 3 consecutive years for "Outstanding achievements in production and business activities, contributing to the development of the business community in the Central Highlands - Central region" (2022-2024 period).
Continue to be in the top 10 prestigious companies in the Logistics industry in 2024 (industry group: Port Operation) announced by Vietnam Report (period 2023-2024). In particular, the Prime Minister's certificate of merit awarded to Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company for its outstanding achievements in production and business activities (2024). The emulation flag of the Capital Management Committee awarded to Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company for its outstanding achievements, leading the emulation movement (2024).

According to Party Secretary, Board Member, General Director of Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company Tran Le Tuan, in the coming term, Da Nang Port Party Committee will focus on the following tasks: Firstly, in terms of Party building, strive for over 80% of grassroots party organizations to meet standards and party members to fulfill their tasks well, with no grassroots party organizations or party members violating the Party's regulations and strive to recruit at least 10 new party members each year on average.

Second, regarding leadership in implementing political tasks: average output growth is 8%; average container growth is 10%; average revenue growth is 10%; average profit growth is 10%; average income growth of workers is 5%; at the same time, fully fulfilling the obligation to pay 100% to the state budget.

The 2020-2025 term has many difficulties, but Da Nang Port has successfully completed the goals set out in the resolution. This result is both a driving force and a challenge for the goals of the 13th Congress for the 2025-2030 term. Therefore, in the next term (2025-2030): the key goal is to focus on the market of the East-West Economic Corridor axis and maintain traditional customers and markets in the provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Hue, Da Nang with the motto of developing a full-package service "Taking customers as the center". Focus on finding sources of goods and customers from Industrial Parks, the Central market, the East-West Economic Corridor routes 1 and 2. Focus on researching the rear areas and growth potential in the Lao market. With the motto "Taking customers as the center" and "Bringing services to the customer's place". Strengthen marketing activities, develop value-added services such as smart warehousing, integrated domestic transportation services, distribution centers, etc. Build attractive incentive policies for new customers.

Actively contribute to the development of Da Nang city

Da Nang Port will continue to focus on investing in developing port infrastructure and logistics, contributing to improving capacity, maintaining traditional markets and meeting new market demands. Projects will be implemented not only in Da Nang city but also in the northern and southern market areas of Da Nang to build an ICD and depot system to support the development of the port exploitation sector.

Along with that, Da Nang Port regularly reviews positions with overlapping functions to streamline, retrains and converts employees in the process of streamlining and applying new technology, ensuring that no employee is left behind in the development process of the enterprise. Evaluates the right person - right job - right capacity, to allocate personnel to appropriate positions. As well as regularly reviewing work processes, internal control regulations and rules to detect bottlenecks and make flexible adjustments, improve management capacity and shorten implementation time. Apply management systems (ERP, KPI...) to monitor performance in real time. Digitizing internal processes helps reduce manual administrative workload, thereby improving the efficiency of human resource use.

In particular, the 2025-2030 term will be the period when Da Nang Port will carry out a drastic and comprehensive digital transformation. All Port employees will strongly apply advanced science and technology, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI). The focus of this period is to create a unified and synchronous digital platform, through upgrading and thoroughly perfecting existing software systems, while building connectivity and integration capabilities throughout the philosophy of "one information input, sharing the entire system". Along with that, Da Nang Port will focus highly on reforming administrative procedures and continuously improving processes, aiming to shorten the time to complete work to the maximum extent. These steps are not only completely synchronous and deeply imbued with the spirit of breakthrough in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation set forth in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo, but also affirm the pioneering vision and determination of Da Nang Port to lead the Vietnamese maritime industry.

With a vision to 2030, the Party Committee of Da Nang Port aims to build Da Nang Port into a modern port in terms of information technology, a smart and environmentally friendly port. The extensive application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will become the main driving force, penetrating into all aspects of operations, not only improving outstanding operational efficiency but also reshaping the way of working, ensuring service quality at an international level.

On the piers facing the sea, each cargo container still stretches endlessly like the rhythm of life of the port city that never stops. After each ship arrives at the port, there is the mark of the decisive leadership, the sense of responsibility, innovation and solidarity of a Party Committee that is constantly striving. 5 years - a term, is not a long journey, but enough to look back on a journey with steady steps, efforts to overcome difficulties, changes present in each number, each project, each person. The Party Committee of Da Nang Port has demonstrated its leadership capacity closely linked to reality, to production and business, to the lives of workers.

From what has been done today, the Party Committee of Da Nang Port continues to write new marks - deeper, more sustainable - on the journey for a modern, green, smart seaport, deeply connected with the supply chain of VIMC's seaport services and reaching out globally, in accordance with the will of the 7th Congress of the Party Committee of Vietnam National Shipping Lines, term 2025-2030, which is "Overcoming the waves, reaching far - Going out to the big sea", thereby actively contributing to the development of Da Nang city and the country in the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
