According to the Hanoi Department of Transport, at 8:20 AM this morning (January 10th), a 29-seat passenger bus with license plate 35E-005.xx was traveling onto the Tay Son - Thai Ha overpass in Dong Da district. This overpass has been equipped with signs prohibiting passenger buses and height restrictions. Upon entering, the bus got stuck at the height limit barrier, causing a traffic jam.
A 29-seater passenger bus driver drove against the flow of traffic on the Tay Son - Thai Ha overpass during rush hour, causing public outrage.
Immediately after the passenger bus violated traffic regulations, the road management unit under the Hanoi Department of Transport and the Traffic Police Team No. 3 implemented a traffic diversion plan, guiding vehicles through the area and assisting in "rescuing" the stranded bus. After about 15 minutes, traffic on the road returned to normal.
Working with the authorities, Mr. PCĐ (born in 1963 in Tam Diep city, Ninh Binh province), the driver of the vehicle, admitted that he failed to observe carefully, leading to him entering a prohibited road.
The traffic police issued an administrative violation report against Mr. PCĐ for the offense of "driving a vehicle into a road with a sign prohibiting entry for the type of vehicle being driven," and temporarily confiscated his driver's license for further processing.
According to Decree No. 168/2024/ND-CP, effective from January 1, 2025, this offense will be punishable by a fine of 4 to 6 million VND and a deduction of 2 points from the driver's license.
