Xuan Son is 'supported' by Thanh Binh, Tien Linh and Duy Manh are on the bench

Coach Kim Sang-sik has announced the list of 11 starting players in the match between Vietnam and Singapore in the first leg of the AFF Cup 2024 semi-final, taking place at 8:00 p.m. on December 26.

The starting goalkeeper is Nguyen Dinh Trieu. After sharing the starting position with Nguyen Filip in the group stage (each goalkeeper played 2 matches), Dinh Trieu was given the trust in the match against Singapore. The Hai Phong goalkeeper is still highly appreciated for his ability to communicate and connect with his teammates in the defense.

In defense, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Pham Xuan Manh and Bui Tien Dung are the three chosen names.

In midfield, Nguyen Hoang Duc plays with Nguyen Quang Hai in the center. Meanwhile, the two wings are Khuat Van Khang (left) and Truong Tien Anh (right).

On the attack line, coach Kim Sang-sik arranged Bui Vi Hao and Dinh Thanh Binh on the wings, supporting the main striker Nguyen Xuan Son.

The Vietnamese team has a 25-year streak of not losing to Singapore in all competitions. With the advantage in strength and class, Mr. Kim set a goal of victory for his students.

"I am very happy to be here. The Vietnamese team is ready to fight to win against Singapore," coach Kim Sang-sik affirmed at the press conference before the match.

Singapore finished second in Group A with 7 points. Coach Tsutomu Ogura's team beat Cambodia (2-1) and Timor Leste (3-0), drew with Malaysia (0-0) and lost to Thailand (2-4). This is only the second time Singapore has reached the AFF Cup semi-finals in the past 12 years, but coach Kim Sang-sik remains cautious.

"Singapore is a strong team. My colleagues and I have watched them play live on the field and on television. We have also dissected and analyzed Singapore through two meetings. The coaching staff and players have discussed tactics during the match, including when to apply high pressure. Everyone is ready," coach Kim Sang-sik analyzed.

On the other side of the front line, coach Tsutomu Ogura analyzed: "Singapore has home field advantage. The players all have good spirit and solidarity. Hopefully the players will be in ideal physical and mental condition for the confrontation.

The Vietnamese team is very strong, but we have focused on analyzing our opponents. However, Singapore will be interested in our individual performances, instead of being distracted by Vietnam."
