Mr. Doan Thanh Cong, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Youth Union, Head of the Youth Union and Children's Affairs Department of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, said: In the activities of the Youth Union and the youth movement, we have a program "Accompanying young people to practice and develop life skills, improve physical fitness, cultural and spiritual life", in which the focus is on physical training and sports activities. To promote this movement, in addition to directly organizing provincial sports competitions, the Provincial Youth Union also encourages grassroots organizations to organize exchange activities and grassroots sports competitions. The goal is to create conditions for union members and children to develop their talents, while discovering and nurturing potential "seeds" for the provincial teams.
Accordingly, since 2014, the Provincial Youth Union has taken turns organizing youth football and badminton tournaments; since 2022, the Provincial Youth Union has annually organized the "Green Race" Swimming Tournament. The number of youth union members and children participating in each tournament ranges from 100 to 200 people. In 2022, the health training movement through the program "Each youth takes 10,000 steps a day" was also launched by the Provincial Youth Union, contributing to spreading the spirit of sportsmanship and creating a habit of daily health training among the young generation in the whole province.
As the pioneering core, the Youth Union has organized many sports activities to create a healthy and useful playground, helping members and young people have the opportunity to exchange, learn and develop their own talents; launching a health training movement through encouraging each member and young person to regularly practice a sport and participate in the program "Steps for the community" associated with the campaign "Each young person takes 10,000 steps a day". The Youth Union has established and maintained sports clubs, teams and interest groups to promote the health training movement among members and young people. At the same time, it regularly organizes tournaments such as men's football, women's football, swimming, student running, pickleball and community sports activities such as "Healthy Youth Festival", "Healthy Children's Festival", sports festivals and sports exchanges attracting a large number of members and young people to participate.
Mr. Nong Ngoc Lam, Secretary of the Dong Kinh Ward Youth Union, said: From July 2025 to now, the ward youth union has organized 2 free swimming classes for 40 young people; established and maintained a basketball club with 30 members regularly practicing. In the coming time, we will continue to establish sports clubs such as soccer, badminton, volleyball, etc. to spread the spirit of physical exercise and health training among union members and young people.
From 2024 to present, the provincial Youth Union chapters have organized more than 500 competitions, tournaments, and sports activities with the participation of more than 52,000 union members and young people; the whole province has more than 10,000 young people participating in Phu Dong sports festivals at all levels; many union members and young people have been selected to participate in provincial, regional, and national tournaments.
Nguyen Tuan Dung, class 11A3, Chu Van An High School for the Gifted, said: Every day I run 5 to 7km to respond to the program "Each youth 10,000 steps a day". Every day I exercise like this, I feel mentally comfortable and healthy.
Sports not only help union members and young people have a healthy and flexible body but also train their will and discipline. Participating in healthy sports also helps union members and young people have the opportunity to exchange and learn experiences in studying and living. In the coming time, these activities will continue to be organized and implemented by union chapters at all levels in the province with many diverse and rich forms.
