Mrs. Ngo Thi Sen's household in Phan Thanh hamlet, Thanh Phu commune, is a poor household that benefits from housing under the Program, but due to her single-family circumstances, she cannot transport soil from the shrimp pond to level the house foundation. The commune's Youth Union mobilized more than 10 members of the Youth Union and local militia to support. With the spirit of youth volunteerism, they were not afraid of difficulties and hardships, overcoming the harsh sun of the dry season. After more than 3 hours, they pushed more than 100 carts of soil, leveling the house foundation with an area of 40 m2, helping the family save on rental costs.

Ms. Sen shared: “When the local government announced that my family would be supported to build a house under the Program, I was very happy, but also worried that my family was single and did not know how to transport soil to level the house foundation. Fortunately, the Youth Union members came to help push the soil. They worked very enthusiastically, like family members, and the house foundation was quickly leveled, helping to speed up the house construction progress compared to the plan.”

The Youth Union and youth of Phu Hung commune also have a creative way of doing things, which is that besides establishing a Youth Union team to support and help households with heavy work, they also established a team to build houses for poor and near-poor households under the Program. Mr. Ho Quoc Trong, Secretary of the Commune Youth Union, shared: “Currently, it is the dry season, the demand for construction of civil works in rural areas is very high, so hiring workers to build houses for poor and near-poor households under the Program is very difficult. Accordingly, the Commune Youth Union mobilized young union members in the commune who have construction skills to establish a team of young people to build houses. Initially, the Commune Youth Union took on the construction of one house. Through monitoring, it was found that the skills of the youth team to build houses were quite good, ensuring the design and aesthetics, the Commune Youth Union continued to assign this team to take on 6 more houses. Up to now, 4 houses have been completed and put into use, the remaining houses are in the finishing stage, expected to be completed by April 25.”
