Young people of the city's armed forces train to be ready for combat

At the end of February 2025, a large amount of oil and waste drifted ashore along Lang Co coastal area (Phu Loc district), covering more than 17km of coastline. Although local forces were mobilized to handle the situation, the large amount of oil discharged ashore could cause unpredictable environmental consequences, so cleaning up and quickly handling the incident is more urgent than ever.

To quickly help the locality handle the marine environmental incident, more than 100 core cadres and soldiers, who are young people from Regiment 6 and hundreds of militia and self-defense forces, along with local forces, were mobilized to urgently collect. With the spirit of quickly cleaning up to soon return the ecosystem to the marine environment, the army youth focused all their human and material resources to conduct a continuous cleanup within 10 days, collecting more than 200 tons of oil lumps and waste, contributing to cleaning up the environment of the affected area.

With their roles and responsibilities, the Youth Union members and youth of the Armed Forces are always the core force in helping people prevent and combat natural disasters, search and rescue, eliminate hunger, reduce poverty and build new rural areas. Remember at the end of 2024, when storm YAGI caused severe damage to houses and gardens in Lang Co town, hundreds of young soldiers were mobilized to help people rebuild their houses and clean up the environment. The storm's high tide also caused severe erosion of the coast of Thuan An and Phu Thuan, and thanks to the help of hundreds of young soldiers, this erosion was quickly overcome.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Nhat, Secretary of the Youth Union of Regiment 6, said: As a combat-ready force, every year during the rainy and stormy season, hundreds of union members and young people of the unit have not been afraid of hardships, always present in the most difficult and dangerous places to help people prevent, combat, and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, move to safe places, help people overcome and repair their houses to soon stabilize their lives. The youth of the army is also combined with mass mobilization work to help localities build new rural areas, help people eliminate hunger and reduce poverty; enthusiastically take the lead in voluntary blood donation activities, Green Sunday, etc.

Worthy of the title "Uncle Ho's soldiers"

Senior Lieutenant Tran Duong Vinh, Assistant to the Mass Mobilization Department of the City Military Command, shared: The military youth has promoted the "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style" in conjunction with the Campaign "Promoting tradition, dedicating talent, worthy of being Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new situation, which has brought about practical results. Thereby, many typical advanced examples, good models, creative and effective ways of combat readiness have emerged, contributing to the city's military to successfully carry out local military and defense tasks, receiving the "Creative Youth of the Whole Army" award.

In the task of training and combat readiness, the youth of the City Military Command have successfully implemented the emulation movement of good training, good solidarity, strict discipline, high combat readiness, combining three breakthroughs in improving the quality of training, military discipline and weapons and equipment management. The youth of the army have effectively promoted the models of "Youth study hours", good training branches... The slogans "Sweat on the training ground, less blood on the battlefield", "One minute of enthusiasm is better than a day of formality" have become the motivation and guideline, making each member and youth enthusiastic, striving to compete in studying, training, determined to achieve the highest results.

It is not only a shock force, leading the way on all fronts of natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue, and forest fire fighting, but also a key force in participating in local political and social activities. Youth union members and military youth always demonstrate the qualities of soldiers in their missions, regardless of difficulties and hardships, ready to accept and do everything for the peace of the people.
