The Department of Cultural Heritage requested the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to inspect and assess the current status, ensure safety and security for the treasure, and report the results to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before May 26, 2025. At the same time, the competent unit shall assess the technical status of the treasure to promptly propose a plan for handling and preserving it in accordance with the provisions of the law on cultural heritage.

The Hue Monuments Conservation Center needs to strengthen the protection, preservation and promotion of the value of national treasures, following the instructions in Official Dispatch No. 1669/DSVH-QLBT&DSTL dated April 22, 2024. Proceed to prepare a dossier of artifacts to propose recognition of national treasures in the 13th phase of 2024.

Initial information , at noon on May 24, subject Ho Van Phuong Tam (42 years old, residing in group 7, area 4, Huong Long ward, Phu Xuan district, Hue city) bought a ticket to enter the Hue Imperial City. Through camera extraction and initial verification by the authorities, at the time of the incident, there were two security guards on duty in the Thai Hoa Palace area, Mr. Dang Quang Long and Mr. Dao Hoang Vu.

When entering the Thai Hoa Palace area, Tam showed unusual behavior. A security guard approached and invited him to leave the area, but he suddenly returned, sneaked into the throne display space, shouted loudly and damaged the left armrest of the throne.

To prevent the subject from acting rashly and destroying other exhibits, security guards approached from a distance, reminded the subject to go outside, and called to request additional support. At 12:10 p.m. the same day, the subject was subdued and handed over to Dong Ba Ward Police to make a record of the arrest of the offender in the act.

The Hue City People's Committee issued a statement stating that through a camera angle extracted, it was shown that security forces were present at the scene right from the beginning of the incident. However, in order to prevent the subject from acting rashly and destroying other artifacts, security guards proactively monitored, approached from a distance and only controlled when the time was right.
