According to Android Authority , YouTube explained that the issue was related to the ad blocker, not the browser, and stated that it was an attempt to "encourage viewers to allow ads."
YouTube claims the 5-second delay occurs because users are using ad blockers.

The company added: "To support the diverse ecosystem of creators around the world and provide billions of users with access to the content they love on YouTube, we are trying to encourage viewers who block ads to turn them off to allow ads if they want a free experience, or to use YouTube Premium if they don't want to see ads. Users who have ad blockers installed may experience limitations regardless of which browser they use."
Essentially, YouTube assumes users must accept a 5-second delay when watching online videos if they don't allow ads or subscribe to a Premium plan.
Recently, YouTube has begun a more aggressive fight against ad blockers. In June 2023, the service began testing preventing users from watching videos if they had ad blockers enabled. If users ignored these warnings for three videos, they would be prevented from watching the video until they turned off their ad blockers. Earlier this month, the company began rolling out a global effort to crack down on ad blockers and encourage users to allow ads or pay for a Premium plan.
YouTube's efforts are facing legal challenges as data protection expert Alexander Hanff has filed a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), alleging that the video service's ad-blocker detection system violates user privacy and is illegal.
