Many people have difficulty sharing YouTube Premium packages in Vietnam

(Dan Tri) - Recently, Google has continuously tightened its sharing policy with the YouTube Premium service package for families. This has caused many mixed reactions from users.

According to Google's policy, when purchasing YouTube Premium for family, users can share this service package with up to 5 other family members.

"When you use a YouTube family plan, you can share the benefits of your family plan with up to five family members who live at the same address," Google said.

For years, the “family member living at the same address” requirement existed only on paper, and Google did little to stop people from sharing YouTube Premium subscriptions. But that’s been changing in recent weeks.

On groups, many users said they received warning emails with the subject line "Your YouTube Premium Family Membership Will Be Paused."

The email states that YouTube's system will conduct a check. If it detects that members are not located at the same physical address as the subscriber, YouTube Premium benefits will be disabled.

This is considered a tough move by Google in tightening its policy towards users. However, the somewhat sudden changes above have caused many mixed reactions from users.

"I have subscribed to the YouTube Premium family package and used it with my friends for more than a year. However, this service package was suddenly discontinued last week due to non-compliance with Google's policies," said Minh Hoa, an office worker in Ho Chi Minh City.

In Vietnam, the YouTube Premium package for families is sold by Google at a price of 149,000 VND/month. Accordingly, up to 6 people can use this service package together to use utilities such as watching videos without ads, playing in the background and accessing YouTube Music.

This is also considered the cheapest solution to buy YouTube Premium if calculated on a per-person basis. Each person only has to pay less than 25,000 VND/month, significantly cheaper than the personal YouTube Premium package sold by Google for 79,000 VND/month.

That is why many users in Vietnam have the habit of inviting friends and relatives to register to share this cost. Many groups have even been created to connect people who want to register for YouTube Premium together.

Google's tightening of policies has made it impossible for many people to share the YouTube Premium service. Many even argue that Google is "forcing" users to pay more for the company's services.
