Z.ai launches shocking AI GLM-4.5, cheaper than DeepSeek

Chinese startup Z.ai has just announced the AI ​​model GLM-4.5, which is cheaper than DeepSeek and has the ability to divide tasks into smaller parts for efficient processing.

GLM-4.5 is Z.ai's new generation AI model, designed in an "agentic" direction with the ability to self-plan and solve tasks in small steps.

Z.ai claims that using GLM-4.5 is cheaper than DeepSeek, at just 11 cents per million input tokens and 28 cents for output.

Notably, the source code of GLM-4.5 is freely open, allowing developers to download and use it flexibly.

According to CEO Zhang Peng, GLM-4.5 only needs 8 Nvidia H20 chips to operate, significantly lighter than competitors with the same performance.

Z.ai does not currently require additional hardware purchases and plans to announce model training costs in the near future.

DeepSeek previously made global headlines with its $6 million AI model, but may have overlooked the huge hardware costs.

Z.ai has raised over $1.5 billion from giants like Alibaba, Tencent, Aramco, and is planning an IPO.
