21 artillery salutes celebrate 50 years of Southern liberation and national reunification

A series of cannons resounded on the morning of April 30 at Bach Dang wharf to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

At 7:00 a.m. on April 30, in the heroic atmosphere of the parade to celebrate the anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), 21 artillery rounds exploded loudly in the pride and joy of the people.

Previously, thousands of people flocked to Bach Dang Wharf (District 1) from the night of April 29 to witness the artillery fire of the 96th Artillery Brigade (Artillery Corps).

The cannon firing is a symbol of strength, victory and pride of the Vietnamese people. People are very excited, proud and can't help but admire and applaud after the cannon shot.

People gathered around Bach Dang wharf to watch the cannon firing.

"So proud and emotional to witness the moment the cannons fired. My whole family and I arrived at 9pm on April 29. Even though we had to wait a long time, we were not tired at all. All the people were very excited. Wherever we went, everyone was happy, singing loudly 'as if Uncle Ho was here on the great victory day'. It was really hard to describe the emotions on this special day for the whole nation," said Ms. Pham Ly (residing in Thu Duc City).

Also at Bach Dang Wharf, people witnessed the performance of helicopter squadrons and fighter jets flying with the national flag and the Party flag over the Saigon River area. In particular, the impressive heat trap drop by the fighter jets made people very excited and proud.
