(NLDO) - According to statistics from the authorities, the fire at Ve Pagoda damaged 25 statues and many artifacts: 8 horizontal lacquered boards, 5 pairs of parallel sentences.


On February 11, the Bac Giang Provincial Police were still coordinating with functional forces to investigate and clarify the cause of the fire at Ve Pagoda (in Tho Xuong Ward, Bac Giang City, Bac Giang Province) in the early morning of February 10.

According to the report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Giang province, the fire at Ve Pagoda at 1:18 a.m. on February 10 burned down the entire Tam Bao Palace, including 5 compartments and 2 wings of the Front Hall and 3 compartments of the Upper Hall with a total area of 263 m2; along with 25 statues; 8 horizontal lacquered boards, 5 pairs of parallel sentences, some votive doors, incense tables... Other items such as two corridors, the Ancestor's house, the Mother's house, and the guest house were safely protected; there were no human casualties.

As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, at around 1:00 a.m. on the same day, February 10, a fire broke out in the main hall of Ve Pagoda and quickly spread to other rooms of the pagoda. Upon receiving the news, the authorities dispatched 4 fire trucks and 30 officers and soldiers to coordinate with Bac Giang Provincial Police to put out the fire. At around 1:35 a.m. on the same day, the fire was basically under control.

At the scene, the main rooms of Ve Pagoda were burned down, the roof collapsed. Many hundreds of years old antiques were burned.

It is known that Lang Ve Pagoda (literally Huyen Khue Tu) belongs to Hau residential group, Tho Xuong ward, Bac Giang city. After many renovations, the pagoda now includes the main construction items: Tam Bao, To house, Mau house, guest house, two corridors. The artistic value of the pagoda is shown in the Tam Bao building consisting of 5 compartments and 2 wings. The front hall is connected to 3 compartments of the upper hall, creating a T-shaped architectural plan. The pagoda still preserves many artifacts and worshiping objects dating from the Le Trung Hung period (18th century) and the Nguyen period (19th-20th century). Lang Ve Pagoda was ranked as a national art relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ) in 1994.

Since being ranked as a national monument, Lang Ve Pagoda has been renovated and embellished three times: In 2012, the Mother House and the guest house were renovated; in 2014, two corridors were renovated; in 2018, the Front Hall was renovated (rebuilding the surrounding wall, re-tiling, replacing some columns, first beams, beams, and horizontal beams).
