378 entries entered the final round of the 5th Political Essay Contest on Protecting the Party's Ideological Foundation

Comrade Doan Minh Huan, member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics chaired the meeting.

Also attending were Party Central Committee members: Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Hoang Trung Dung, Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine; representatives of the leadership of agencies: Vietnam Television, Voice of Vietnam , Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Central Council of Theory; and members of the Jury Council, Secretariat assisting the contest.

At the meeting, the Organizing Committee of the contest announced the members of the Central Final Round Jury Council, consisting of 35 comrades.

Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Trung Y, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, reported on the situation and results of the preliminary round of the contest. The 2025 political essay contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation has achieved good initial results, with a total of nearly 542,000 entries. Units and localities have completed the appraisal and scoring at the grassroots level and sent more than 4,600 entries to the Central level.

Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Trung Y, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, reported on the situation and results of the preliminary round of the contest.

Based on the Contest Rules, the Secretariat has screened and proposed more than 2,300 works in 5 categories: newspaper, magazine, television, radio and video clip for the preliminary round at the Central level. The highlight of the works selected for this year's preliminary round is the focus on exploiting and explaining new, topical topics that have appeared recently. Many works have closely followed the country's important political and historical events in 2025 such as: the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2; 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

The Party's major and strategic policies and decisions in recent times have been agreed upon and highly appreciated by many works and authors, especially the revolution in the arrangement, organization and operation of the two-level local government. However, the score distribution of the entries in the five categories has a significant difference. This year, the contest recorded many works with high scores in the three categories of radio, television and video clips.

To date, the preliminary round of judging has been completed. The preliminary round jury unanimously selected 378 entries for the final round, including: 140 magazine works, 134 newspaper works, 39 radio works, 37 television works, 28 video clip works. The contest received 21 entries from foreign authors from China, Laos, Italy, and Sweden. The Organizing Committee of the contest has proposed that the jury evaluate and classify these entries separately to award prizes annually.

Comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association spoke at the meeting.

The members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury of the final round frankly exchanged and discussed the organization and scoring of the preliminary round, clarified the content, evaluation criteria and score distribution of the entries of the 5 categories. The opinions basically agreed on the contents presented in the preliminary round scoring results report and the scoring sheet. Some members of the Jury raised many new issues such as evaluation criteria for works using AI elements, scoring time, adjusting the scoring scale of the exam, etc.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Doan Minh Huan noted that the members of the Jury of the final round need to select good works that reflect the spirit of the contest, which is to protect Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, the Party's guidelines, the theory of the Party's renovation guidelines, and refute erroneous and hostile viewpoints. The winning works need to harmonize the relationship between content and form, ensuring political correctness, but also must be elaborately constructed, creative, convincing and attractive to readers, viewers and listeners; evaluate the positive and negative impacts and influences of AI on the works and authors participating in the contest.

The Permanent Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics requested the Jury, members of the Organizing Committee, and the Secretariat to base on the contents and opinions in the meeting to draw experiences and lessons from the 5 times the contest was organized, and to have careful preparation for the award ceremony and the 5-year summary of the contest in the coming time.

After the meeting ended, the contest's Jury Board proceeded to judge the final round on September 25 and 26.
