Comrade Doan Minh Huan, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Permanent Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, chaired the meeting.
Also attending were Central Committee members: Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association; Hoang Trung Dung, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine; representatives from the leadership of Vietnam Television, Vietnam Radio , the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, and the Central Theoretical Council; along with members of the Judging Panel and the Secretariat assisting the competition.

At the meeting, the Organizing Committee of the competition announced the 35 members of the Central-level Final Round Judging Panel.
Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Trung Y, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, reported on the situation and results of the preliminary round of the competition. The 2025 political essay competition on protecting the Party's ideological foundation has yielded positive initial results, with a total of nearly 542,000 entries. Units and localities have completed the assessment and scoring at the grassroots level and submitted more than 4,600 entries to the central level.

Based on the competition regulations, the Secretariat has screened and proposed over 2,300 works in 5 categories: newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and video clips for the preliminary judging round at the central level. A notable feature of the works selected for this year's preliminary round is their focus on exploring and analyzing new, topical themes that have emerged recently. Many works closely followed major political and historical events of the country in 2025, such as: the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd; and the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
The Party's major strategic policies and decisions in recent times have been widely supported and highly appreciated by many works and authors, especially the revolution in restructuring and organizing the two-tiered local government system. However, the scores of the entries in the five categories show a significant disparity. This year, the competition recorded many high-scoring entries in the three categories of radio, television, and video clips.
To date, the preliminary judging round has been completed. The preliminary judging panel unanimously selected 378 entries for the final round, including: 140 magazine entries, 134 newspaper entries, 39 radio entries, 37 television entries, and 28 video clip entries. The competition received 21 entries from foreign authors from China, Laos, Italy, and Sweden. The Organizing Committee has proposed that the judging panel evaluate and rank these entries separately for awarding prizes according to the annual format.

Members of the Organizing Committee and the Final Round Judging Panel frankly exchanged and discussed the organization and preliminary judging process, clarifying the content, evaluation criteria, and scoring of entries in the five categories. There was general consensus on the content presented in the preliminary round judging report and scoring sheets. Some members of the Judging Panel raised several new issues, such as evaluation criteria for works using AI elements, judging time, and adjustments to the scoring scale.
Concluding the meeting, Comrade Doan Minh Huan noted that the members of the final round judging panel should select good works that truly reflect the spirit of the competition: defending Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, the Party's guidelines, the theory of the Party's reform line, and refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints. Winning entries should strike a balance between content and form, ensuring both political rigor and meticulous, creative, persuasive, and engaging writing; and should assess the positive and negative impacts of AI on the entries and participating authors.
The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics requested that the Judging Panel, members of the Organizing Committee, and the Secretariat base their actions on the content and opinions expressed in the meeting to draw lessons from the five previous competitions and to make thorough preparations for the upcoming awards ceremony and five-year review of the competition.
Following the meeting, the competition's judging panel proceeded with the final round of judging on September 25th and 26th.
