385 athletes conquered Ta Cu peak in the spring of the Year of the Dragon 2024.

BTO - On the morning of February 16th, the 26th Ham Thuan Nam District - Binh Thuan Province Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Open Competition 2024 took place in Thuan Nam town, Ham Thuan Nam district.

Provincial leaders attended the opening ceremony.

Attending the opening ceremony were Comrade Dang Hong Sy - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh; Secretary of the Ham Thuan Nam District Party Committee - Le Thi Bich Lien, along with leaders of departments, agencies, and representatives from other provinces participating in the tournament.

The 26th Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition in Ham Thuan Nam District, Binh Thuan Province, in 2024, saw the participation of 47 delegations from 7 provinces and cities with 385 athletes. Specifically, the amateur category had 161 athletes from 22 units within the district, the provincial selection category had 13 units with 95 athletes, and the open category had 12 delegations with 121 athletes.

Men's expanded content and selection system

The competition featured athletes from Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai , Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Lam Dong, and other provinces. A notable addition this year was the team from Dau Tieng district, Binh Duong province.

Speaking at the competition, Ms. Mai Thi Ngoc Anh, Vice Chairman of the Ham Thuan Nam District People's Committee, affirmed: "The Ta Cu Mountain Climbing Competition is a traditional sporting event held on the 7th day of the Lunar New Year every year. The competition aims to develop the sports and physical training movement in the district, providing a beneficial and enjoyable playground during the spring festival, an opportunity for teams and athletes to exchange knowledge, improve their skills in mountain climbing, strengthen solidarity and exchange among sports teams, and promote the movement of physical training for studying, working, building, and protecting the Fatherland. Through the competition, we also contribute to promoting the image and scenic beauty of the famous Ta Cu Mountain Pagoda in the district to tourists from all over the country, making Ham Thuan Nam tourism a safe and attractive destination."

In the men's open category, athlete Pham Ngoc Phan (Binh Thuan 2) finished first with a time of 36:38'84, second place went to teammate Trieu Tien Luyen (Binh Thuan 2), and third place went to Le Huu Loc. In the men's open team category, first place went to Binh Thuan 2, second place to Dong Nai, and third place to Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

In the women's open category, first place went to Cao Thi Thanh Thuy with a time of 37:45'68; second place to Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen (Binh Thuan 2), and third place to Le Thi Ha (Dong Phu - Binh Phuoc). First place in the women's open team category went to Dong Phu (Binh Phuoc), second place to Binh Thuan 2, and third place to Dong Nai. In addition, the organizing committee also awarded first, second, and third prizes for the men's and women's amateur and provincial-level competitions.

Following the events, the organizing committee also awarded the first prize for the overall team performance to Binh Thuan 2, the second prize to Dong Nai, and the third prize to Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

This is the 26th season, organized by the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam District to commemorate the 94th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2024) and to celebrate the Party and the Lunar New Year of the Dragon 2024.
