5 programs to help identify SSD life

In fact, a modern SSD can last a lifetime, but knowing how much life an SSD has left can prevent it from going into read-only mode and reacting to problems too late. Aida64

The successor to the famous Everest is the most complete software designed to know the status of SSD hardware because it combines a lot of options. CrystalDiskInfo

CrystalDiskInfo is a popular tool for finding out the status of any storage device, but the downside is that it doesn't tell us specifically how long the SSD will last. Instead, users have to calculate it themselves based on the data they receive.

As shown in the screenshot, the software shows that 15,860 GB has been written to the SSD. What we need to know is the TBW data of the device, and with this data, the user can do the math to know how much is left. For example, the drive has an endurance of 1,400 TBW, and since about 16 TB has been written, that means about 90% of the writes.

Based on the above figures, it can be seen that each tool has a different way of calculating data and in the case of CrystalDiskInfo, it calculates based on the SSD specifications and not based on the actual data that the software reads.

SSDLife Pro

This software will give the user an approximate (or rather, an estimate) of the SSD's lifespan. This calculation is based on its usage time and wear level at the time of querying, so it is quite accurate.

HWiNFO

HWiNFO is one of those programs that has been with hardware enthusiasts for years because it has the ability to get reports on all of your PC's hardware as well as measure all of your device's sensors in real time. To do this, the user will have to go to the Disk section and then search for their SSD depending on its type (in this case, NVMe). There, the user can see in the Device Status section the remaining usage time, calculated in a similar way to Aida64.

Hard Disk Sentinel

Finally, Hard Disk Sentinel is a program with a slightly old interface but does a pretty good job of finding out how much life your SSD has left.
