What makes VinFast difficult to compete with in the student electric motorbike segment?

With prices starting from just 12 million VND and a free charging promotion for nearly the next 2 years, VinFast is creating an "earthquake" in the Vietnamese two-wheeled vehicle market, especially the electric motorbike segment for students.

Market-breaking pricing policy

Immediately after VinFast announced the expansion of its green conversion policy nationwide, the electric motorbike market immediately heated up. Accordingly, all customers who buy VinFast cars or electric motorbikes will be supported with 10% of the car price and 100% of the registration fee. Moreover, customers who have not arranged enough finance can access an installment loan package of up to 80% of the car value (90% if borrowing to buy a car to participate in the Green SM Platform), which means that they only need to pay from 10% to receive the car.

This policy quickly attracted the attention of customers looking for a car model with reasonable cost but still ensuring quality, especially students. In particular, in the student car segment, VinFast is almost "overwhelming" the market thanks to 2 models: VinFast Motio - currently priced at only 12 million VND and Evo Lite Neo - currently priced at 14.4 million VND.

A survey at a number of VinFast dealers shows that since the end of August, the number of customers coming to inquire and make deposits has increased significantly. Many parents have taken advantage of this “golden time” to buy cars for their children for the new school year.

VinFast cars are already reliable in terms of quality, and now the cost is more affordable, so there is nothing to hesitate about. I just bought a Motio for my daughter who is about to enter 10th grade with a very reasonable total cost of ownership ,” said Nguyen Viet (Hanoi).

Mr. Viet analyzed that, from the listed price, after receiving 10% support and adding the registration fee - currently only 1 million VND in Hanoi - the Motio has a rolling price of only 11.8 million VND (VinFast supports the registration fee), which is even lower than the listed price. With this amount of money, if he were to buy a gasoline car, he would only be able to access old manual transmission models that lack safety and basic features.

"Good" car from quality to operating costs

Through discussions with many customers, Mr. Nghia, a sales consultant at a VinFast electric motorbike dealer in Hanoi, said that the point that makes not only students but also parents especially satisfied with Motio and Evo Lite Neo is the youthful design and a series of equipment that is superior to the price.

Specifically, both models are equipped with a hydraulic shock absorber telescopic suspension system in the front, dual shock absorbers in the rear, front disc brakes, and IP67 water resistance, helping the vehicle to operate stably in rainy conditions. Tubeless tires, Full LED lighting system and projector headlights, both ensure safety and create aesthetic highlights. In addition, the vehicle's warranty period is up to 3 years, giving both parents and students long-term peace of mind.

In addition, VinFast also applies a free charging policy for all electric motorbike users until the end of May 2027 at V-Green stations nationwide.

A VinFast electric car costs only 12 million VND but has a beautiful design, equipment equivalent to a gasoline car costing 20-30 million VND, and has a good warranty policy. Charging and maintenance costs are also much lower. In terms of economics , electric cars clearly have an advantage, not to mention they are also a green vehicle, do not emit harmful gases to health and the environment ,” said Ms. Nguyen Ha Anh (Hanoi), who just bought a Motio.

Both the Motio and Evo Lite Neo are limited to a maximum speed of 49 km/h, making them suitable for students who do not need a driver's license. On a full charge, the Motio can travel continuously for about 82 km, while the Evo Lite Neo can travel for 78 km, enough to meet the needs of going to school, going out or participating in extracurricular activities.

Instead of spending nearly 20 million VND to buy a 50cc gasoline motorbike or buy an electric car floating on the market, I and other parents will definitely choose a VinFast car because it is more economical and ensures quality and safety, ” Ms. Ha Anh emphasized.

Competitive prices, low operating costs, high-quality equipment and long-term after-sales policies are becoming the "quad" of advantages that help VinFast electric motorbikes increase their competitiveness in the student vehicle segment, especially in the context of the market shifting strongly to green vehicles.
