The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent a document to the Vietnam Register regarding the enterprise's proposal to convert electric motors for gasoline-powered vehicles.

Previously , Motorcycles TV Trading & Service Co., Ltd. proposed to consider adding and perfecting the legal corridor to legalize the "Electric engine conversion system for gasoline vehicles" to contribute to the implementation of the green conversion commitment.

After receiving the proposal, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction chaired a meeting to listen to the enterprise's presentation of the project. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Vietnam Register, the Vietnam Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (VAMM), the City Automobile and Power Equipment Association, and the 50-03S Motor Vehicle Registration Center.

At the meeting, representatives of the participating units supported the creative innovations of individuals and organizations in the field of motor vehicle renovation. Especially the renovation and conversion of electric motors for old motorbikes and scooters in operation to help save on new investment purchases. At the same time, it helps limit the increase in the number of private vehicles, contributing to the implementation of green transformation in transportation.

The unit's proposed solutions for converting electric motors for gasoline-powered vehicles are similar to those of hybrid cars.

According to the representative of the Vietnam Register, there are currently no specific regulations on converting motorcycles and motorbikes to electric motors . Current legal documents have not yet mentioned this content in detail.

Therefore, testing and evaluation activities on converting and converting gasoline-powered motorbikes and scooters to electric engines still do not have a legal corridor for official implementation.

From the perspective of the City Department of Construction, the renovation and conversion of electric motors for old motorbikes and scooters in circulation is a potential direction, in line with the city's orientation in converting to green energy, reducing carbon emissions and methane gas in transportation.

However, to ensure technical safety, environmental protection and compliance with national standards, implementation needs a clear legal basis and unified guidance from central ministries and branches.

Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction requests the Vietnam Register to study and consider proposing the Ministry of Construction to incorporate and supplement provisions or issue regulations, technical standards, and safety standards for the renovation and conversion of electric motors for motorbikes and scooters. This creates a legal corridor for organizations and individuals to implement, contributing to green transformation in transportation activities.

At the same time, consider providing guidance for Motorcycles TV Trading & Service Co., Ltd. to register for testing and evaluating the quality of the unit's electric motor conversion products for motorbikes.
