High-tech freshwater aquaculture production model at Xuyen Viet Production and Trading Joint Stock Company.
Increase production value
Instead of individual production, in some localities, more and more agricultural and aquatic product value chains are emerging, bringing higher revenue to producers, while consumers have access to safe and quality agricultural products. According to the Hai Phong Department of Rural Development, by September 2025, the city will have 22 agricultural and aquatic product value chains. Some chains have built prestigious brands with consumers in the city and many other localities across the country.
Mr. Le Van Viet, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Xuyen Viet Production and Trading Joint Stock Company (Gia Phuc Commune) said that the unit specializes in producing and supplying tilapia, tra fish... for domestic and foreign markets. The farming process is applied according to VietGAP standards. To increase value and economic efficiency, the company proactively cooperates with aquaculture households, processing enterprises and some export partners to build value chains. The company also invests in and builds modern processing facilities, applying advanced technology in preserving and processing seafood.
Luong Hue Poultry Breeding Joint Stock Company (An Phong Ward) has also made a breakthrough in organizing closed-chain farming from parent chickens, breeding chickens to raising broilers; creating a system of large-scale, highly efficient satellite farms; processing, slaughtering and preserving clean poultry products with a design scale of 1,000 birds/hour, applying hanging slaughtering technology imported from France.
The value of the linkage chains is clear, but the formation and development of linkage chains are not very favorable, so the quantity is limited, not commensurate with the potential and strengths of agriculture and aquaculture of the city.
According to Head of Training - Information and Market Department ( Hai Phong Agricultural Extension Center) Le Thi Duc, the risk of large-scale agriculture and enterprises, producers still face difficulties in accessing the city's support policies. The link between enterprises and producers is not sustainable, because the products go through many intermediary distribution stages, leading to the selling price being much higher than the purchase price at the production facility. The market lacks transparency between clean products and unsafe products, of unknown origin and people. Consumers lack necessary information about the product. Some consumers only care about price, do not know how to identify brands, reputable manufacturing facilities...
Cam Dong Agricultural Cooperative (Mao Dien commune) develops a chain of egg-laying chicken farming.
Cooperation for development
Production according to the value chain brings high economic efficiency to producers, and consumers will be able to use safe, quality products. However, in order for the model to be open and sustainable, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Luong Thi Kiem said that it is necessary to clearly recognize the opportunities and advantages of developing value chains and have appropriate solutions. Accordingly, it is necessary to plan and organize concentrated, large-scale production associated with the advantages of each region, develop specialized areas of goods with high productivity, quality and competitiveness. Apply science, technology and digital transformation in the agricultural value chain, from production, processing to consumption. Develop deep processing industry, logistics system and build brands of Hai Phong agricultural and aquatic products, targeting domestic and international markets to increase added value for products. Strengthen the linkage of "four houses" in the product value chain.
The long-term solution is to improve policy mechanisms and create conditions for cooperatives to play a good role in linking production and product consumption according to the value chain. In the credit policy, it is necessary to simplify capital allocation procedures, incentives, support chain models, infrastructure, planning of raw material areas, and trade promotion. Mr. Dong Quoc Tra, Deputy Head of the Department of Rural Development, affirmed that the management agency must be a bridge between enterprises and cooperatives and members, with the market, or between processing enterprises through providing market information, linking enterprises, creating conditions for cooperatives to visit and learn from typical models. Cooperatives and farming households need to proactively build and form specialized areas, sustainable raw material areas, with clear plans and plans for resource investment; prioritize land accumulation, large-scale production...
Local authorities play an important role in promoting value chain development. Vice Chairman of Gia Phuc Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Chuyen said that the locality has identified the direction of smart agricultural development, creating conditions for replicating the value chain. In fact, in the area, many chain linkage models of some enterprises such as Xuyen Viet, HD Green, Duc Hai... have appeared. The locality continues to plan the overall development of agriculture, mobilize capital sources for investment in irrigation infrastructure, create favorable conditions for enterprises, cooperatives, and people to produce and form value chains...
