On the occasion of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) to be held in Brazil later this year, the Deputy Minister welcomed the global initiatives proposed by the Brazilian Government , including the “Acting Together” Declaration to promote international cooperation on forest protection and climate change response.

Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh highly appreciated Brazil's pioneering role in calling for the sharing of data, technology and experience in forest fire prevention and control, risk management and post-fire ecosystem restoration, which are growing challenges globally, especially in countries with large forest areas. Vietnam also acknowledged Brazil's efforts in promoting integrated and sustainable forest management, valuing the role of local communities and people, the frontline forces in protecting natural resources.

In addition, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated Brazil's initiative to establish the Climate Change and Trade Integration Forum within the framework of COP30. He said that this is a strategic visionary initiative, reflecting the inevitable trend as countries move towards green development, circular economy, emission reduction and deep economic integration.

According to the Deputy Minister, this Forum will be an important space to connect climate policy with trade, through sharing standards, technology and financial mechanisms to support developing countries, while encouraging businesses to participate more deeply in the global green value chain. “I believe that the Forum will become an effective bridge between international economic and environmental institutions, contributing to promoting the process of transforming the growth model, ensuring harmony between economic and environmental benefits,” he emphasized.

The Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is establishing an interdisciplinary working group to attend COP30 with relevant ministries and sectors, demonstrating Vietnam's commitment to global cooperation on climate and sustainable development.

At the reception, Ambassador Marco Farani presented an invitation letter from the Brazilian Minister of Agriculture and Livestock to the leaders of the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, inviting them to attend the launching ceremony of an important initiative on the sidelines of COP30.

The Ambassador said that in recent times, the two countries have made much progress in opening up their agricultural markets. Vietnam has opened its market for Brazil to export beef to Vietnam, while Brazil has opened its market for Vietnamese tilapia and tra fish. Currently, two Brazilian companies are allowed to export beef to Vietnam, and the Brazilian side hopes that more qualified companies will be allowed to enter the market.
