On November 2, in his concluding speech at the Forum “Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers’ Union – Minister of Agriculture and Environment listens to farmers talk about 2025”, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang emphasized that the forum ended in an exciting, open and responsible atmosphere for the future of agriculture, farmers and rural areas in Vietnam.
Each sharing of farmers, businesses, and scientists is a true piece reflecting the breath of the land, of the people who are day and night preserving and cultivating the country's agriculture . In those stories, he clearly felt the belief, aspiration to rise up and the spirit of proactive innovation of Vietnamese farmers in all regions and in all fields of production.

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Mr. Tran Duc Thang expressed his thanks to the Vietnam Farmers’ Union and the delegates for bringing their practical spirit, concerns, aspirations and will to overcome difficulties to today’s forum. He called it “a command from life” and at the same time a source of energy for the industry to act more strongly, creatively and decisively in the coming time.
The Minister of Agriculture and Environment cited the guiding viewpoint of General Secretary To Lam: “Farmers are not only producers, but also creators, entrepreneurs of the land, ecological engineers and cultural subjects of rural Vietnam”. According to Mr. Tran Duc Thang, this is a great vision, a guiding principle for the Agriculture and Environment sector in the new period.
Three breakthrough pillars and five key solution groups
From the above spirit, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment identified 3 strategic breakthroughs and 5 groups of key action solutions, so that the "voice of farmers" today becomes the "action of the whole system" tomorrow.
The three breakthrough pillars emphasized by Minister Tran Duc Thang are the foundation for Vietnamese agriculture to enter the green growth phase of circular agriculture and sustainable development. First of all, it is necessary to make the institution truly pave the way for innovation, a lever for action. The Ministry will establish a specific testing mechanism for green agriculture models, carbon credits, and rural digital transformation, helping new initiatives to be tested and replicated faster.

The Ministry has identified science, technology, and digital transformation as mandatory paths. Specifically, by 2026, the National Database on Land, Resources, and Agriculture will be completed. Technologies such as AI, IoT, GIS, and blockchain will be applied deeply in production management, traceability, pest warning, and crop management.
Along with that, we will expand the system of "Farmer Scientists", where experts and farmers learn and research together, so that each field becomes an "open laboratory", and each farmer is a green innovator.
The Minister also emphasized that modern agriculture cannot exist if infrastructure is weak. Therefore, the industry will prioritize the development of multi-purpose irrigation systems, green logistics centers, renewable energy infrastructure in rural areas and deep processing industry, creating sustainable links between raw material areas and domestic and international markets.
“Those three breakthroughs are three organically linked pillars. In which, institutions pave the way - Technology creates a leap - Infrastructure ensures reality, to form the foundation for green growth, circular agriculture and sustainable development,” said Minister Tran Duc Thang.
To specify the orientations, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment identified groups of action solutions, considering this as the "source of national strength" as "Industry - Agriculture - Commerce - Intelligence - Military". In which, the State will continue to play a creative role, allocate resources in the right focus, and strengthen coordination between the central and local levels.
Farmers are at the center of innovation, supported with training in digital skills, e-commerce, and carbon credits. Businesses become the driving force for expanding markets and value chains. Scientists are the source of knowledge to help solve problems on the field…
According to the Minister, agricultural development is not only an economic task but also a cultural and humanistic mission, because each field and each forest is a living cell of the national economy. “We not only create material wealth, but also sow hope, preserve identity and create a sustainable future for future generations,” Minister Tran Duc Thang shared.
