Mangrove forests play an important role in protecting the coast from the risk of landslides.
The plan aims to concretize the goal of sustainable forestry development, promote the economic and ecological value of forests, associated with green growth and improve livelihoods for people in forest areas. The province aims to maintain forest cover at over 12.65% by 2030, develop 38,000 hectares of sustainable forest-shrimp models, and expand ecotourism in special-use and protective forests such as U Minh Ha, Ca Mau Cape, and Dat Mui.
The plan also clearly assigns responsibilities to departments, branches and localities in forest management, protection and development; mobilizes diverse resources from the budget, socialization and forest environmental services for effective implementation.
The implementation of the plan is considered an important step to help Ca Mau move towards modern and sustainable forestry development, harmoniously combining conservation and green economic development in the southernmost region of the country.
