Proposal to invest nearly 340 billion VND to develop Xa Mat and Chang Riec border gates

The project will build two new main traffic routes N1 and D3, which are the central axis routes in the Xa Mat Border Gate Economic Zone, connecting directly from the Xa Mat International Border Gate area to the planned service, trade, logistics and residential functional areas. The total route length is nearly 3.6 km; of which, route N1 is nearly 0.7 km long and route D3 is more than 2.9 km long, with a scale of class II road, design speed of 50 km/h.

The total investment is expected to be nearly 200 billion VND; of which, the cost of site clearance is more than 92 billion VND, the construction cost is nearly 72 billion VND. After approval, the Economic Zone Management Board and related units will carry out project preparation, design, site clearance compensation in the period of 2025 - 2026 and project implementation in the period of 2027 - 2030.

According to Mr. Truong Van Hung, Deputy Head of Tay Ninh Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, Xa Mat Border Gate is one of the key international border gates of Tay Ninh province, playing an important role in trade, tourism and border cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia. The implementation of the above project will contribute to completing the main traffic infrastructure in Xa Mat Border Gate Economic Zone, forming a synchronous traffic route connecting Xa Mat International Border Gate with planned functional areas (service area, industrial park, residential area and logistics area), creating a foundation for the development of a modern, civilized, green and sustainable border gate urban area.

At the same time, ensuring the smooth transport of goods and passengers between the border gate area and the province's key traffic routes, including National Highway 22B, National Highway 14C and the Go Dau - Xa Mat expressway, contributing to reducing the load on the existing traffic system and enhancing the connection of Tay Ninh border area with Cambodia and the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS); creating conditions for the development of trade, logistics and border tourism services, improving the efficiency of exploiting Xa Mat Border Gate, attracting secondary investment in functional areas in the border gate economic zone; promoting import and export activities of goods, increasing budget revenue and improving the competitiveness of Tay Ninh province in the Southern key economic zone.

In addition, the project also contributes to ensuring security, defense and order in the border area, gradually building Xa Mat into a model, modern border urban area, linking economic development with protecting national territorial sovereignty.

Along with the above project, the Tay Ninh Provincial Economic Zone Management Board also proposed the Provincial People's Committee to approve the Chang Riec Border Gate project (Tan Lap Commune, Tan Ninh) with a total investment of nearly 138 billion VND; expected to be implemented in the period 2026 - 2028.

This project will build a joint control station; a national gate and control barrier (No. 1, No. 2); a square and landscaped green area; a technical infrastructure system... The Chang Riec Border Gate Project is of particular importance to the socio-economic development of the border area of Tay Ninh province. The investment in construction will contribute to completing the border gate infrastructure, improving the capacity to serve immigration and exit, ensuring national security and defense, and creating favorable conditions for border trade activities, logistics services and cross-border tourism.
